  • Patent number: 5158323
Abstract: An airbag restraint system for an automotive vehicle has a first airbag disposed in its folded state in a steering wheel padding and a second airbag disposed in its folded state in a glove box. The first airbag is adapted to be fully inflated upon ignition of a first inflator. The second airbag is adapted to be inflated to some extent upon ignition of a second inflator, and fully inflated upon ignition of a third inflator. The first and second inflators are simultaneously ignited respectively under activations of first and second squibs. Immediately after starting of the ignition of the first and second inflators, an electronic power supply to the first and second squibs is stopped respectively upon breakage of first and second breakable conductor members through which an electric power is suppliable to the first and second squibs. The breakable conductor members are adapted to be broken respectively when the first and second airbags inflate.

  • Patent number: 4517952
Abstract: A twin ignition plug control system for an internal combustion engine by which two point ignition is switched to one-point ignition only when engine load is heavy and the engine is not being warmed-up. Since the control system according to the present invention is so configured that many elements or sections can be used in common with a convention fuel injection valve control system, without providing various sensors or detectors such as a vacuum sensor disposed with an intake manifold for detecting engine load, a clutch switch or a neutral switch for detecting engine idling, etc., it is possible to simplify the twin ignition plug control system and thus reduce the manufacturing cost. When a microcomputer is incorporated within the fuel injection valve control system, in particular, the present invention is advantageous.

  • Patent number: 4504819
Abstract: An alarm system applied to engine oil pressure dependent on engine speed includes first and second sensors. The first sensor detects the engine oil pressure and generates a signal indicative thereof. The second sensor detects the engine speed and generates a signal indicative thereof. A reference signal is produced in response to the engine speed signal for defining an oil pressure reference level dependent on the engine speed. A comparator, responsive to the oil pressure signal and the reference signal, compares the engine oil pressure to the reference level and generates an alarm signal when the engine oil pressure is lower than the reference level.

  • Patent number: 4383515
Abstract: A fuel injection control system that controls the quantity of injected fuel for an internal combustion engine of the type such as a V-8 engine is disclosed. Such fuel injection control system first calculates a basic amount of fuel to be injected per engine revolution T.sub.p (T.sub.p =Q/N .times.Constant Q: intake air flow rate N: engine revolution speed, e.g., rpm), then calculates correction coefficients (COEF, .alpha..sub.L and .alpha..sub.R) on a basis of other various engine operating parameters (e.g., cooling water temperature) and the air-fuel mixture ratio of each bank of cylinders as sensed by exhaust gas detectors and combines either of their numerical results with the numerical result T.sub.p to obtain a pulse width representing an amount of fuel per revolution T.sub.i, and lastly opens either or both groups of fuel injectors whereby when the intake air flow rate Q is more than a predetermined value Q.sub.

  • Patent number: 4311042
Abstract: Apparatus for controlling the supply of fuel to an internal combustion engine. The apparatus includes a hot-wire air flow meter and a smoothing circuit connected electrically to the output of the flow meter, said circuit eliminating pulsations present in the output signal of the flow meter, thereby preventing corresponding fluctuations in the air-fuel ratio of the mixture admitted to the engine.
