  • Patent number: 4881321
Abstract: A cable-making apparatus comprises a conductor-positioning device (110) to which an electrical cable (10) is affixed and exposed ends of electrical conductors (13) of the cable (10) are positioned in spaces (112) of a first comb member (110a), a conductor-moving member (141) moves the conductors (13) from the first comb member (110a) into spaces (132) of a second comb member (130) so that the conductors (13) are aligned with termination sections (21a) of electrical contacts (21) of an electrical connector (20) positioned in a connector-retaining member (150) adjacent the second comb member (130), and a cutting and stuffer member (162) cuts the conductors (13) and stuffs them into the termination sections (21a) of the contacts (21) thereby effecting electrical connections between the conductors and the contacts whereafter the cable and connector terminated thereto are removed from the conductor-positioning device (110).

  • Patent number: 4838407
Abstract: A harness-receiving apparatus for receiving an electrical harness comprising electrical wires connected at respective ends thereof to electrical connectors and fed from a harness-making machine (HMM) comprises: a first carrier rail positioned with respect to the harness-naking machine (HMM) for receiving one of the connectors for movement therealong while the other of the connectors hangs down during movement of the harness along the first carrier rail; a second carrier rail at an outer end of the first carrier rail and being directed downwardly with respect to the first carrier rail so that the one connector is transferred from the first carrier rail to the second carrier rail while the other connector continues to hang down during the movement of the one connector and the harness along the second carrier rail; and a harness-receiving member positioned below the second carrier rail for receiving the harness from the second carrier rail and arranging the harness in the direction of the second carrier rail.

  • Patent number: 4825530
Abstract: An electrical connector applicator comprises a lower holding-member (1) on a base (3) for holding a base member (19) of an electrical connector so that electrical conductors (18) of a cable (17) can be positioned along the base member (19) and an upper holding-member (2) on a block (10) for holding a cover member (16) of the electrical connector. A section (10a) of block (10) is pivotally mounted to a spring-biased mechanism (6, 7, 8, 9, 11) located on base (3).

  • Patent number: 4551893
Abstract: Wire processing apparatus comprises first and second wire treatment stations. Wires are fed through the second station and their free ends are terminated to an electrical connector at the first station. Wire lengthening rollers are then operated to advance the wires by different lengths, so that they form loops between the wire treatment stations. During such advance of the wires, wire tensioning rollers are operated to keep the wires in tension between the tensioning rollers and the wire lengthening rollers and to pay out the wires into the loops. The wire lengthening, and the wire tensioning, rollers are then stopped and the wires are simultaneously severed at the second wire treatment station and the severed ends of the leads so formed are terminated to a second electrical connector at the second wire treatment station, after which, the terminated leads are ejected from the apparatus.
