  • Publication number: 20110027994
Abstract: A polishing liquid for CMP has a composition loaded with, for example, an inorganic salt, a protective film forming agent and a surfactant capable of imparting a dissolution accelerating activity to enlarge a difference between polishing speed under non-load and polishing speed under load. By virtue of this polishing liquid for CMP, there can be simultaneously accomplished a speed increase for increasing CMP productivity, and wiring planarization for miniaturization and multilayer formation of wiring.

  • Patent number: 7875387
Abstract: In an electrode in electrochemical device, particularly an anode lithium ion secondary battery, a cathode for use in alkali storage battery, an electrode for use in fuel cell, or a capacitor electrode, a metal structure has nano size micro-pillars is constructed with an electrode active material being formed on the surface of the metal structure. The metal structure having nano size micro-pillars can be formed, for example, by forming a metal layer as an electrode material by plating to the surface of a substrate having pores and then removing the substrate by dissolution, the metal filled in the pores of the substrate to form a group of micro-pillars. And the active material can be formed by depositing metal by plating. Since the active material is in direct contact with the conductive skeleton, the conducting agent for connecting the active materials to each other may not be added at all.

  • Publication number: 20100257642
Abstract: The present invention allows simple and sensitive detection of microimpurities, microdefects, and corrosion starting points which may be present in a material. A probe microscope has a function to sense ions diffused from a specimen in a liquid. A probe is caused to scan over a predetermined range on a specimen. Then, the probe is fixed to a particular position in a liquid so as to set the distance between the specimen and the probe to a given value at which the microstructure of the specimen surface cannot be observed. Thereafter, one of the current between the probe and a counter electrode and the potential between the probe and a reference electrode is controlled, and the other of the current and potential which varies in accordance with the control is measured. Thus, ions diffused from the specimen are sensed.

  • Patent number: 6726830
Abstract: This invention relates to an improved apparatus and method for electrolytic descaling of steel strips. The apparatus comprises electrodes integrated with nozzles having jet openings for dispensing electrolyte onto the surface of the steel strips. By jetting the electrolyte to the steel strip in the air and applying a voltage to the electrode, the scale on the surface of the steel strip is removed. This jetting of electrolyte reduces the size requirement of the electrolyte tank storing the electrolyte because the required quantity of electrolyte decreases. The present invention does not require immersion of the electrodes in the electrolyte and thus avoids the problem of short-circuiting that occurs with submerged electrodes. This results in a significant improvement in electric power efficiency.
