  • Patent number: 5514771
Abstract: A process for the preparation of an organic solvent soluble ion-doped poly(alkyl-substituted pyrrole) which comprises dissolving an alkyl-substituted pyrrole compound represented by formula (I) in an organic solvent, oxidation-polymerizing the dissolved alkyl-substituted pyrrole in the presence of at least one oxidation polymerization agent selected from the group consisting of a ferric salt and a copper (II) salt to form an ion-doped poly(alkyl-substituted pyrrole), next adding water to the polymerization reaction system thus obtained and then recovering an organic solvent soluble ion-doped poly(alkyl-substituted pyrrole): ##STR1## wherein X represents an alkyl group; and Y represents a hydrogen atom or an alkyl group.

  • Patent number: 5227238
Abstract: A carbon fiber chopped strands suitable for use in production of a composite with a matrix material, which have a circular or elliptical cross-section, wherein carbon fiber filaments are bundled by a sizing agent in an amount of from 1 to 10% by weight based on the chopped strand, and which have denseness of from 0.4 to 0.9 according to the formula below: ##EQU1## where D denotes the average diameter of the chopped strands, d denotes the average diameter of filaments constituting the chopped strand and N denotes the number of the filaments, and a method for production thereof by impregnating a carbon fiber strand with a sizing agent in an amount of from 1 to 10% by weight based on the total weight of the chopped strand to form a sized strand, and then cutting the sized strand, thereby giving the denseness of from 0.4 to 0.9 according to the formula (1).

  • Patent number: 5126017
Abstract: A process for producing an electrically conductive polymer film which comprises electrically polymerizing a monomer, capable upon polymerization of providing conjugated double bonds, in an electrolytic polymerization solution containing a fluorocarbon surfactant and a dopant electrolyte using a working electrode and a counter-electrode immersed in the electrolytic polymerization solution, with the proviso that for an anodic oxidation electrolytic polymerization a fluorocarbon surfactant except an anionic fluorocarbon surfactant is used, and for a cathodic reduction electrolytc polymerization a fluorocarbon surfactant except a cationic fluorocarbon surfactant is used.

  • Patent number: 4474906
Abstract: A carbon fiber coated with 0.3 to 10 wt. % of a polyurethane resin is disclosed. Also disclosed is a carbon fiber reinforced thermoplastic resin composition consisting preferably of 3 to 60 wt. % of such carbon fiber and 97 to 40 wt. % of a thermoplastic matrix resin. Said carbon fiber has increased gathering properties and adhesion strength to facilitate the mixing with the thermoplastic matrix resin and provides a resin molding having improved mechanical properties, especially increased impact strength.
