Patent number: 7121895Abstract: The present invention provides a female connector that can simplify the process of attaching male contacts by eliminating the need for the process of removing some of male contacts. The female connector has a female housing with recessed mating sections for receiving mating male connectors. A plurality of rows of male contacts protrude from the respective bottom surfaces of the recessed mating sections of the female housing to the interior portions of the recessed mating sections. Ribs protrude from the respective bottom surfaces of the recessed mating sections to the interior portions of the recessed mating sections with the protruding length from these bottom surfaces being greater than that of the male contacts. The ribs are provided in areas where the male contacts are arranged, and male contact receiving cavities that receive some of the male contacts are formed in the ribs.Type: GrantFiled: April 27, 2005Date of Patent: October 17, 2006Assignee: Tyco Electronics AMP K.KInventor: Katsumi Shiga

Patent number: 6030252Abstract: A waterproof connector which makes it possible to extend wires from a housing at a narrow pitch while waterproofing the wires, and which makes it possible to obtain a highly-reliable waterproofing effect, and a waterproofing-housing member which is used in the waterproof connector. The waterproof connector (10) has a housing (20) and a waterproofing-housing member (30). The waterproofing-housing member (30) includes an inner member (33) and outer members (31, 32) which are formed as integral members of the inner member (33) via hinge members (41, 42). The inner member (33) and outer members (31, 32) are formed so that the members are capable of engaging with each other. When the waterproofing-housing member (30) is engaged on a rear side of the housing (20), the waterproofing-housing member (30) is fastened to the housing (20) while a space between the waterproofing-housing member (30) and the housing (20) is waterproofed; at the same time, the wires (100) are waterproofed and extend rearward.Type: GrantFiled: July 17, 1998Date of Patent: February 29, 2000Assignee: The Whitaker CorporationInventors: Kenzo Oda, Yoshihito Fujiwara, Katsumi Shiga
