  • Patent number: 7971957
Abstract: An ink-jet line printer (30) is constituted by multiple ink-jet heads (1-1 to 1-3). Actuators (3-1 to 3-3) are arranged so as to be moved between a home position and a print position, and backup mechanisms (2-1 to 2-3) are arranged at home positions. In this ink-jet line printer, the ink-jet heads can be protected and recovered by backup mechanisms, thus making high-speed continuous printing possible. Even though the backup mechanisms are incorporated, a compact apparatus can still be achieved.

  • Patent number: 7146206
Abstract: A method and a system for detecting cardiac arrhythmias that includes detecting RR intervals of the patient wherein each RR interval is an interval between two heart beats, and simulating standard probability density histograms of ?RRs by means of a suitable probability distribution calculated through at least one mathematical formulae, wherein ?RR is a difference between two successive RR intervals. Test probability density histograms of ?RRs of the patient are constructed from the detected RR intervals. Finally, the standard and test histograms are compared to detect whether the patient suffers from cardiac arrhythmia. As non limiting examples, the standard probability density histograms of ?RRs are modeled by a mathematical equation selected from the group consisting of: the Lorentzian distribution, the Gaussian distribution, the Student's t-distribution, and a probability distribution including a linear combination of the Lorentzian and Gaussian distribution.

  • Patent number: 7120485
Abstract: There are many different serious cardiac arrhythmias. The present invention uses measurements of RR intervals (interbeat intervals) to detect, in particular but not exclusively, atrial fibrillation of a patient. Atrial fibrilation is a serious ailment in which the heartbeat is generally rapid and irregular. Probability density histograms of ?RRs (difference between two successive RR intervals) collected during atrial fibrillation of a plurality of subjects are used as a template for the detection of atrial fibrillation. In one implementation, there are 16 standard probability density ?RRs histograms every 50 ms of mean RR interval of a certain number of beats, where the mean RR interval ranges from 350 ms to 1149 ms. Similarity between the standard probability density histograms and a test density probability histogram of ?RRs of a patient is estimated by the Kolmogorov-Smirnov test.

  • Patent number: 5159391
Abstract: An electrophotographic recording apparatus includes a photoconductive drum having a toner image developed on a surface of the drum, a transfer station having a transfer unit located above the photoconductive drum to transfer the toner image onto an underside surface of a paper moving along a predetermined path extending between the photoconductive drum and the transfer unit. The paper will be fed toward the transfer station in an upward orientation by feed rollers. Also, a fixing unit is provided along the path and downstream of a point of separation of the paper from the photoconductive drum, to fix the toner image onto the paper with the recorded surface facing down when the paper is ejected from the transfer station, and a guide for smoothly guiding the leading end of the paper into an entrance of the fixing unit.
