  • Publication number: 20110139696
Abstract: A water treatment system to be installed in a tanker or other cargo ship for destruction of aquatic organisms and microorganisms that may be contained in the water, usually seawater, being pumped into the ship's ballast tank or tanks. Included is a ballast pump having an intake conduit for drawing water from the sea, and a delivery conduit for delivering the water under pressure to the ballast tank. The delivery conduit has mounted therein a slitted or otherwise open-worked screen for mechanically killing the aquatic lifeforms contained in the water by shearing action. For chemical treatment, on the other hand, part of the water being delivered by the ballast pump is bypassed into an ozone impregnator thereby to be impregnated with ozone from an ozonizer. A bypass pump repressurizes the ozone-impregnated water for returning the same into the delivery conduit.

  • Publication number: 20100235699
Abstract: A fault diagnosis apparatus and method capable of simultaneously detecting the fault of a multiplexer and the fault of an A/D converter and isolating and identifying causes of these faults, the multiplexer and the A/D converter being used in a multi-channel analog input/output circuit. Test-voltage values are inputted from a diagnosis-voltage input unit into the multiplexer and the A/D converter constituting an analog-signal conversion unit, the multiplexer having plural channels, the A/D converter converting outputs from the multiplexer into digital signals, the test-voltage values being different from each other for each channel of the multiplexer. Comparisons are made between the digital voltage values and the test-voltage values inputted, the digital voltage values being outputted for each channel of the multiplexer. From this comparison result, it is judged whether the multiplexer is at fault or the A/D converter is at fault.

  • Patent number: 4904161
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a variable displacement type hydraulic pump including an engine as a driving power source is disclosed. The subject invention detects the number of revolutions of the engine and the pressure of hydraulic oil delivered from the hydraulic pump, and sets a pump absorption torque characteristic which decreases in relation to the number of revolutions of the engine. The inclination angle of a swash plate in the pump is detected with reference to the pump absorption torque characteristic and the pressure of hydraulic oil delivered from the pump, and the swash plate in the pump can be controlled so as to assure its inclination angle; the number of revolutions of the engine can be reduced without the absorption torque of the hydraulic pump exceeding the allowable torque of the engine. When the controlled apparatus is utilized, the number of revolutions of the engine can be optimally reduced and fuel consumption cost reduced correspondingly.

  • Patent number: 4692009
Abstract: The present invention relates to a braking device for a focal plane shutter in a camera. In the early stage of a braking operation on a shutter curtain, a relatively weak braking force is applied, and in the closing stage of the braking operation, a strong braking force is applied to insure that without causing the shutter curtain to bounce or to be damaged by shock, the shutter curtain is stopped. The device is constructed from two brake members arranged so that in the early stage the first brake member takes action, and in the closing stage, the second brake member takes action to add a braking force to that of the first brake member.

  • Patent number: 4660952
Abstract: In a focal plane shutter of the kind having a plurality of divided blades pivotally arranged to be turnable on driving arms in an overlapped state, the weight of the blades is reduced by making them from very thin material; the blades are reinforced with embossed protrusions which are formed in the longitudinal direction of the blades for the purpose of preventing them from flexing and being damaged during their travel. Each of the embossed protrusions is within the difference in stepped height between the surfaces of the blades and the heads of blade carrying studs disposed on the driving arms. Therefore, the shutter can be smoothly operated without increasing the thickness of the blades as a whole.
