  • Patent number: 8926166
Abstract: Provided is a kneading rotor, a batch kneader and a method of kneading materials capable of obtaining kneaded materials with higher quality in comparison to conventional kneaded materials when the materials to be kneaded are kneaded in a high temperature state. The kneading rotor comprises a rotor portion which is disposed in a kneading chamber of a chamber of a batch kneader, and applies shear force, by using a plurality of kneading blades, to materials to be kneaded which pass through a tip clearance. A first long blade of the plurality of kneading blades has an apex for forming, with the inner surface of the chamber forming the kneading chamber, three-staged tip clearances of different sizes configured from a combination of a large tip clearance, a mid tip clearance that is smaller than the large tip clearance, and a small tip clearance that is smaller than the mid tip clearance so as to be arranged in the longitudinal direction of the first long blade.

  • Patent number: 7854542
Abstract: A plurality of mixing rotors that are housed in a chamber having a cocoon-shaped cross section in a tangential non-intermeshing state, where a plurality of long wings and short wings are provided on a wing portion of the mixing rotors. The long wings and the short wings severally have a plurality of different sizes of tip clearances, a twist angle of the long wings is changed in the axis direction, and makes mixing efficiency and dispersion efficiency compatible. Further, cooling medium paths are provided severally in the chamber and the mixing rotors to suppress excessive increase of the temperature of mixing materials. According to a batch mixer using the mixing rotors, it is possible to control quality reduction of the mixing materials caused by heat generation, and to improve the productivity by increasing the number of the wings without diminishing inherent processing performance of the mixer.

  • Patent number: 7694317
Abstract: When a failure detection server calculates a measurement average value at every predetermined time with respect to measured values collected in the past, and collects measured values from cable modems, the server sets a failure determination threshold value by adding or subtracting a predetermined difference threshold value to or from the measurement average value so as to determine the presence of failure. A failure analysis server performs a screening process of inputting determined failure information and eliminating logically conflicting failure information, obtains a differential of the screened failure information between this time and previous time so as to extract changed failure information and newly generated failure information, and then, repeats state determination at an upstream connection point, starting from a cable modem having failure information, so as to estimate the failure generated location.

  • Patent number: 5607703
Abstract: A roller head extruder unit includes an extruder unit, a pair of calender rollers arranged forward of an exit opening of the extruder unit and supported for rotation by a support frame mounted securely with respect to the extruder unit, and side guides arranged on either side of a space between the exit opening of the extruder unit and the calender rollers to thereby define a bank into which material for rolling is extruded. At least one of the upper and lower rollers is mounted for rotation in a roller housing supported by the support frame for limited movement in a direction perpendicular to the axis of the upper and lower rollers. The roller head extruder unit also includes a detection device for detecting the force with which this roller housing is caused to move as a result of accumulation of material in the bank.

  • Patent number: 5562358
Abstract: A device for clamping upper and lower rims to the respective upper and lower spindles of a tire uniformity machine. The device includes wedge component having an outer surface contacting the inner surface of a rim and a tapered inner surface contacting a similarly tapered surface of the spindle, is displaced axially relative to the tapered surface of the spindle. Such axial displacement is translated into a radial displacement of the wedge component as a consequence of the wedge effect between the tapered surface of the wedge component and tapered surface of the spindle. If the wedge component is displaced radially outward, its outer surface pushes against the inner surface of the rim and the rim is clamped through the frictional force between the inner surface of the rim and the outer surface of the wedge component.

  • Patent number: 5520455
Abstract: A batch type kneader (1) is provided with a chamber (3) having a material supply port (5) which can be closed, a pair of rotors (4A, 4B) which are disposed in the chamber (3) so as to be rotatable in opposite directions, and wings (10) provided over the outer circumferential surfaces (10A) of the rotors (4A, 4B) in such a way that they (10) mesh with each other. In this kneader (1), a ratio S/D of a clearance S between the outer circumferential surfaces (10A) of the wings (10) of the rotors (4A, 4B) and an interior wall surface of the chamber (3) to an inner diameter D of the chamber (3) is set in the range of 0.01-0.02. The lands on the wings of the rotors have chamfers.

  • Patent number: 5372419
Abstract: An internal mixer has two rotors operated at either the same speed or different speeds. In two communicating cylindrical closed spaces which are round in cross section, two rotors connected with two output shafts of a speed reducer are juxtaposed in a non-engaged state, to transmit the driving power from the prime mover to the speed reducer, thus turning the two rotors in opposite directions. In this internal mixer, the two rotors are usable both at the same speed and at different speeds because of the use of the speed reducer having two output shafts whose speed of revolution is changeable between the same speed and different speeds. In one embodiment, the speeds of revolution of the output shafts are changed by a slidable clutch and in another embodiment, the speeds of revolution are changed by a movable stepped gear.

  • Patent number: 4986745
Abstract: A roller head opening and closing apparatus in a roller head extruder includes parallel upper and lower rollers disposed at an extrudate outlet end of the extruder and having axes extending orthogonal to the longitudinal axis of the extruder. Two frames are rotatably journaled at opposite ends of the rollers and can pivot about the axis of the lower roller. Actuators pivot the frames from a position in which the roller axes lie in the same vertical plane to a position in which the upper roller is swung away from the extrudate outlet so that a maintenance space is created between the extrudate outlet and the upper roller. This permits the use of a stationary electric motor for driving the lower roller, and so avoids the need for electrical contacts which compensate for motor movement.
