  • Patent number: 5692448
Abstract: A method and apparatus, for use with a sewing machine, for modifying stitching data representing a pattern that the sewing machine is to sew. The stitching data includes non-stitching feed data, in accordance with which the sewing machine feeds a needle without sewing from an origin position to a sewing start position, and seam data including information defining feeding directions and feed amounts per stitch, in accordance with which the sewing machine sews the pattern. A data identifying device identifies the seam data of the stitching data. A seam data changing device converts, in accordance with an enlargement/reduction ratio stored in a storage device of the sewing machine, the seam data identified by the data identifying device into new seam data representing a new pattern which is an enlarged version of the original pattern enlarged or reduced relative to the sewing start position, without modifying the non-stitching feed data.

  • Patent number: 5379226
Abstract: A sewing data forming device which forms sewing data to form a fine seam merely by inputting the coordinate data of a plurality of points on a free curve which includes the start and end points. The sewing data forming device for a sewing machine comprises data input unit for inputting coordinate data of a plurality of points along a sewing pattern, the data input unit designating an input condition among point input, linear input and curve input, data storage unit for storing data inputted by the data input unit successively, and data processing unit for applying inclination data to each of the coordinate data so as to form the sewing data between the points adjacent to each other according to a stitch length specified for an interval therebetween.

  • Patent number: 5239475
Abstract: A data preparing apparatus includes an input device for inputting coordinate data such as a configuration and pattern to be processed and processing conditions, a memory device for converting the coordinate data inputted by the input device into variable coordinate data varying relatively according to the processing conditions and storing the variable coordinate data as a pattern data for processing, a predicting device for predicting a processing information resulting from a processing performed on the basis of the pattern data stored in the memory device and an output device for outputting the processing information obtained by the predicting device. The processing information includes at least one of a processing time, an area to be processed and a processing path. The predicting device calculates a processing time according to a preset processing rate.

  • Patent number: 5153840
Abstract: A device for creating stitching data for use by a sewing machine includes a tablet digitizer having a pattern entry area and menu area for which data for a stitching pattern in a forward direction is entered by a cursor. The data entry device operates in conjunction with a storage, under CPU control, to store the input stitching data in an input order. Reverse stitching data is generated automatically from the input data by an apparatus which is operative to read the forward direction stitching data in reverse order, analyze the content of the data, translate the identified data into reverse stitching data and write the reverse stitching commands into memory. The forward stitching data and automatically generated reverse stitching data are stored in a ROM for use by the sewing machine.

  • Patent number: 5009176
Abstract: A sewing data forming device for sewing machines comprising a coordinate input unit for inputting a coordinate value and a plurality of switches for providing instructions at an operating step, and forming needle position data for the sewing machine by calculating coordinate values sequentially inputted from said coordinate input unit. When needle position data to be newly inputted is within a predetermined distance from previously inputted needle position data, the needle position data to be newly inputted is replaced, when inputted, by the previously inputted needle position data as the same data. Also, a method of forming sewing data for a sewing machine is performed using the above device.

  • Patent number: 4630212
Abstract: An apparatus for controlling a sewing machine includes a control circuit having connector lines for reading data from a semiconductor memory device and a switching circuit for automatically switching the connector lines dependent on the type of the semiconductor memory device employed by reading a keyword stored at a head address in the semiconductor memory device. The control apparatus can use any type of semiconductor memory device available at the present time and in the future. The switching circuit includes a logic circuit which can be implemented by a simple gating circuit.

  • Patent number: 4446520
Abstract: Stitching data according to a desired sewing pattern is successively stored as incremental data between adjacent stitches. When all of the stitching data as thus stored is transferred into a storing medium for controlling feeding of cloth in an automatic sewing machine, the incremental data is successively added to compute sewing pattern coordinates. All of the sewing pattern coordinates are used to produce an image reference position of the sewing data on a monitor display screen. The image reference position and the sewing pattern coordinates are computed to produce monitor display pattern coordinates, and a sewing pattern based on the monitor display pattern coordinates is displayed on the monitor display screen to allow confirmation of the sewing data before the latter is transferred into the storing medium.
