    Abstract: An image reading apparatus and an image forming system are provided which can reduce the influence of magnification error, detect patches in correct positions, and save the sheets required for adjusting an image. The image reading apparatus makes use of an image scanner which reads patches printed on a sheet P, a spectral colorimeter which colorimetrically measures the patches read by the image scanner, and is provided with a timing compensation unit which compensates the colorimetric measurement timing with which colorimetric operation of the spectral colorimeter is triggered based on the positional information of the patches read by the image scanner, and an image correction unit which corrects the color information of the patches read by the image scanner based on the colorimetric values of the patches colorimetrically measured by the spectral colorimeter.

Thus, according to the base station device, in slave base station devices, synchronization control unit hardware that is connected to Ethernet (registered trademark), and outputs timestamp information and synchronization pulses which includes interval pulses and wide pulses, synchronization control unit software that generates frame numbers based on the timestamp information, and a wireless timing control unit that receives the synchronization pulses generated in the synchronization control unit hardware and the frame numbers generated in the synchronization control unit software, and performs timing control for performing wireless communication with IP-DECT client terminals are provided. The wireless timing control unit includes a frame counter, and the frame counter is updated using the frame numbers with the wide pulses as triggers.

When a preceding sheet differs from the subsequent sheet in sheet type, a control unit for controlling the image forming system has the subsequent sheet stand by at a paper stop roller of the upstream apparatus, and performs the operation of switching the operating states of the upstream and downstream apparatuses in accordance with the sheet type of the subsequent sheet.
