  • Patent number: 5749138
Abstract: A connecting and fitting method is provided for metallic pipes with a small diameter. The method includes providing a piping component having a tube wall extending therefrom and defining an expanded chamber. The method further includes providing a pipe member and forming at least one circumferential discontinuity in the pipe member near one end. The end of the pipe member is then inserted through an annular sealing component and into the expanded chamber defined by the tube wall. A diameter reducing area is then formed on the tube wall at a location substantially registered with the circumferential discontinuity in the pipe member to squeeze and tightly seal the sealing component into connecting engagement with the circumferential discontinuity on the pipe member.

  • Patent number: 5580100
Abstract: A connecting joint for connection to a plastic tube comprising: a main body having proximal and distal ends with a flow passage and chamber between the ends in communication with each other. An engaging wall extends inwardly at the distal end defining a small diameter entry into the chamber, a support provided with a guard wall and resilient arms extending from the guard wall with projection walls on the terminal ends of the resilient arms having outwardly extending inclined surfaces and inwardly extending pawl walls is located in the chamber and a collar is secured in the chamber by the engaging walls. When the tube is inserted into the chamber, one of the guard wall, an annular friction ring or a seal located in the chamber engages the tube and as the tube is withdrawn the member engaging the tube moves the outwardly extending inclined surfaces into engagement with the collar thereby urging the pawls into engagement with the tube.

  • Patent number: 5575512
Abstract: A connector for a pipe joint has a plurality of ridges formed on its inner surface and engaging the outer surface of a pipe. An annular bush fitted between the connector and the pipe inserted therein also has a plurality of ridges formed on its inner surface and engaging the outer surface of the pipe. These ridges can hold the pipe against any undesirable axial or radial displacement from the connector.

  • Patent number: 5437483
Abstract: An improved joint for coupling flexible hoses for forming an air or oil supply system for an automobile or outdoor machines and equipment. The joint is provided with hose clamp means such as a collet which bites the outer peripheral surface of the top end of the hose inserted into the joint and a cover member for controlling the movement of the hose and at the same time, it is provided with several means for sealing the hose with respect to the joint so that the entry of water into the joint can be completely prevented and the corrosion of the joint elements and the hose within the joint can be eliminated to thereby keeping the sealing property of the joint for a long time.

  • Patent number: 5328216
Abstract: A thin pipe connecting joint comprises: a joint body including retaining walls bent individually from the two end portions thereof, and an assembly hole extending through the axis thereof; and a pair of pipes including engagement walls formed at their end portions to be connected and adapted to be brought into abutment against each other, elastic seal ring members assembled on the individual back faces of the engagement walls, and a socket member inserted on the back of one of the elastic seal ring members and having a plurality of protruded tongue walls opened backward. When the engagement walls of the pipes are assembled in the assembly hole of the joint body, the other of the seal ring members is retained on the retaining wall at the same side, and the one of the seal ring members is pushed and held by the socket member so that the pipes are connected by retaining the tongue walls of the socket member on the retaining wall at one side of the joint body.

  • Patent number: 5324081
Abstract: A connector for coupling pipes having a small diameter includes a generally cylindrical main body 1 having a connecting end portion 2, a small-diameter chamber 3' which is larger in diameter than the bore of the end 2, and a large-diameter chamber 3. The end portion 2 and the chambers 3' and 3 are coaxially connected with one another. The large-diameter chamber 3 is surrounded by a wall having a pair of window openings 9, and a pair of resilient arms 7 each lying in one of the window openings 9 and having a radially inwardly bent pawl 5. The small-diameter chamber 3' contains seal rings 6, a bush 12 and a sleeve 13 positioned on the opposite side of the seal rings from the bush, which are all fitted about a pipe P connected in the main body 1. The large-diameter chamber 3 contains a cylindrical holding member 8 having an inner surface portion engaged with a wall portion of the pipe P, and an outer surface having a shoulder against which the pawls 5 are held.

  • Patent number: 5314216
Abstract: A coupling for a resin tube is provided with a body having opposed front and rear ends. The large diameter chamber extends into the rear end and a communication hole extends into the front end. A small diameter chamber connects the communication hole and the large diameter chamber. A seal is disposed in the small diameter chamber for sealing engagement with both the body and the resin tube to be coupled. A split annular grip with an inwardly directed annular pawl also is disposed in the small diameter chamber and is dimensioned for surrounding the tube. The outer circumference of the grip is tapered to define a minor diameter adjacent its rear end. A holding member has a front end with an internal taper engaged with the grip. The rear end of the holding member is releasably engaged with the rear end of the body. The tube can easily be inserted in a forward direction through the split annular grip for engagement by the seal.
