  • Patent number: 10282095
Abstract: Proposed are a method and a device for managing the performance of a storage apparatus which uses a combination of different types of drive devices which mutually have different limits as its storage medium so that measures can be systematically taken against problems that may arise in the future as a result of the drive devices reaching their limit. Based on a premise of being able to tier two or more types of storage mediums which have mutually different rewriting limits and response performances and migrate data between the respective tiers according to the response performance, a performance management device estimates a decrement of a storage capacity pursuant to each of the two or more types of storage mediums reaching a rewriting limit, estimates a performance influence on the virtual volume and a timing of occurrence, and displays information related to the estimated performance influence and the timing of occurrence.

  • Publication number: 20180011890
Abstract: In the present invention, a management system has a storage device and a processor. The storage device holds an information processing program for controlling information pertaining to a storage system by utilizing a database. The processor executes an update program that updates the information processing program and the database utilized by the information processing program. The update program calculates an estimated update time needed to update the information processing program and the database on the basis of the size of at least a portion of the database utilized by the information processing program before being updated and the structure of the database utilized by the information processing program after being updated, and outputs the estimated update time thus calculated.

  • Patent number: 8443362
Abstract: Provided is a computer system including a host computer, a storage system, and a management computer, in which the storage system receives data I/O request to virtual logical volumes and data I/O request to one or more real logical volumes, each of the virtual logical volumes is allocated to one of one or more pools, storage areas of physical storage systems are allocated to all storage areas defined as the pools, and when a performance problem has occurred in one of the virtual logical volumes, the management computer selects the one of the virtual logical volumes, and selects a pool other than the pool to which the selected virtual logical volume is allocated and the real logical volumes as a migration destination of the selected virtual logical volume, to thereby prevent a performance problem from being caused by interference among the virtual logical volumes sharing the pool.
