  • Patent number: 11949834
Abstract: An image reading device includes linear image sensors that are arranged so that adjacent image sensors include an overlapping region in which portions of reading regions of the adjacent image sensors overlap in a main scanning direction, and a buffer unit for read image data. Image data of each overlapping region are generated by synthesizing first image data obtained by a first linear image sensor and second image data obtained by a second linear sensor, the first linear image sensor and the second linear sensor being adjacent in the main scanning direction. Image data of the predetermined line is generated based on image data in which the image data of each overlapping region are excluded from the image data stored in the buffer unit and the image data of each overlapping region. The processing is repeatedly executed in a sub-scanning direction.

  • Patent number: 8814304
Abstract: This invention is made to solve a problem that the power supply cannot be used efficiently because, even when the normally operable ambient temperature of an apparatus is low, the supplied power of the power supply is restricted in consideration of a case in which the ambient temperature is high. To solve this, a temperature sensor measures the temperature of a predetermined portion of a printing apparatus or an ambient temperature. The driving count of printing elements used to print in a region by one scan is compared with a threshold determined in accordance with the measured temperature, and an appropriate printing mode is selected. When the ambient temperature of the printing apparatus is low, a large power can be supplied to the printhead, increasing the efficiency of the power supply.

  • Patent number: 8740341
Abstract: An inkjet printing apparatus is provided that reduces a period required for detection of the ink ejection state for the individual ejection ports of a print head. The inkjet printing apparatus includes a carriage moving unit for moving a carriage in the main scan direction that crosses a conveyance direction in which a printing medium is to be conveyed. The inkjet printing apparatus also includes an LED and a photodiode, for receiving light emitted by the LED, both of which are employed to detect the ink ejection state for the ejection ports to be examined. The inkjet printing apparatus moves the LED and the photodiode in the main scan direction to move the inspection position, at which the ink ejection state is to be examined.

  • Patent number: 8104862
Abstract: Provided are a method of precisely evaluating the performance of an optical sensor including light-emitting elements corresponding to light-emitting wavelengths respectively representing multiple colors as well as a light-receiving element even under a condition in which mists of color inks adhere to the sensor, and a printing apparatus for carrying out the method. To this end, how much the performance of the optical sensor mounted on a carriage decreases is evaluated based on a cumulative number of ejections for each ink color, which number corresponds to the amount of mist, and a degree at which each ink affects each color LED. This makes it possible to precisely evaluate the performance of the optical sensor including the light-emitting elements corresponding to the light-emitting wavelengths respectively representing the multiple colors as well as the light-receiving element even under the condition in which the mists of the color inks adhere to the sensor.
