  • Patent number: 7066599
Abstract: A display unit for displaying first and second images includes a display device, a parallax barrier arranged facing the display device, and a lenticular lens arranged facing the parallax barrier. The parallax barrier includes a plurality of slit regions. A slit control section alternately switches each slit region between a transmitting state and a shielding state at a predetermined cycle. An image signal output section provides, in synchronization with the switching of the slit region, image data to the display device so that the plurality of pixels of the display device display an image different from the image displayed before switching of the slit region.

  • Patent number: 7068252
Abstract: A display unit includes an organic electroluminescence device having light-emitting regions, and a liquid crystal panel having pixels. The liquid crystal panel is spaced apart from the organic electroluminescence device so that the light of each light-emitting region illuminates at least two pixels. An image signal output section provides data of a first image to first pixels of the liquid crystal panel and provides data of a second image to second pixels of the liquid crystal panel. The image signal output section switches the display of the first image and the display of the second image in synchronization with a switching of the emitting of the light-emitting region and non-emitting of another light-emitting region of the organic electroluminescence device by the light-emission control section.

  • Publication number: 20050007302
Abstract: A display device that can be made to be smaller and thinner. The display device includes a light source including a plurality of emitting regions disposed in a plane, a light emission controller which performs switching control of each emitting region between an illuminating state and a blacked out state, a transmission type image display panel including a plurality of pixels through which light emitted from the light source is transmitted, an image signal output which sends each pixel a set of associated image data, and a light directing member which includes a structure for directing light that has passed through the pixels and which is disposed opposingly to the transmission type image display panel. A set of the emitting regions are arranged in the horizontal direction of the transmission type image display panel to oppose to an associated pixel of the transmission type image display panel.
