Publication number: 20030065787Abstract: A method to provide data communication service, which enables each service provider to provide each user with both contents service and Internet connection service. The method provides an Internet service provider with an AT-GW 341 used to authenticate the user, hold a network address assigned to the user, and translate a network address, which is different from a network address held by the user, thereby establishing communication between the user computer and the Internet service provider. The configuration of the present invention thus enables the user to receive high quality contents service and Internet connection service provided from a communication enterprise concurrently.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 6, 2002Publication date: April 3, 2003Applicant: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Tatsuaki Osafune, Katsuyoshi Kitai, Haruo Shibata, Koji Tanaka

Patent number: 6470391Abstract: A communication controller at the sending computer divides data transferred from a host into sub-ACK unit packets, and transfers them sequentially to a destination without waiting for the sub-ACK's being subsequently provided by the destination. A communication controller at the receiving computer issues a sub-ACK to the sending computer for each of the sub-ACK unit packet, if the sub-ACK packet has been normally received and otherwise issues retransmission request for the sub-ACK unit packets and merges data included in the sub-ACK unit packets into the initial data, after they are normally received.Type: GrantFiled: May 8, 2001Date of Patent: October 22, 2002Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Yoshifumi Takamoto, Hiroki Kanai, Tadahiro Takase, Katsuyoshi Kitai, Yoshimasa Masuoka

Publication number: 20020135610Abstract: A system and method for visualizing multi-layer topology schematics from topology data, enabling view level (layer) change to an alternative view level (layer) by selecting a partial domain on the schematic displayed on the screen. The system may include: view level tables corresponding to all partial domains set in accordance with the arrangement of components in a topology schematic space, wherein each component to be visualized within a partial domain and the view levels of the components are defined. In response to an input whereby a partial domain and a specific view level to which the currently visualized schematic is to change have been selected, the system determines one or more components belonging to the selected view level from the view table for the specified partial domain and visualizes the component(s) within the selected domain.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 3, 2001Publication date: September 26, 2002Applicant: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Toshio Ootani, Eiji Ohira, Katsuyoshi Kitai

Publication number: 20020023150Abstract: An apparatus and method for changing over from an active network interface (NIF) to its standby NIF. The network system configuration may include at least two server computers, each having active and standby NIFs, the active NIF connected to first communication equipment and the standby NIF connected to second communication equipment. Both the first communication equipment and the second communication equipment are connected to a router. When at least one server computer detects a fault occurring in the path between its active network interface and the router, the server computer changes the IP address assignment from its active NIF to its standby NIF. Then, the server computer transmits an ARP request from its standby NIF to the router in order to make the router change the MAC address registration mapped to the above IP address, retained in the ARP cache of the router, from the MAC address assigned to its active NIF to the MAC address assigned to its standby NIF.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 28, 2001Publication date: February 21, 2002Inventors: Tatsuaki Osafune, Katsuyoshi Kitai

Patent number: 6112248Abstract: This invention provides dynamic balance of the traffic among data processing devices interconnecting networks and thereby improve the networking performance. For network traffic flowing between a first network and a second network, the traffic is distributed among the data processing devices that act as routers according to the traffic amount. An algorithm for balancing the traffic is used to select appropriate data processing devices as routers.Type: GrantFiled: February 4, 1998Date of Patent: August 29, 2000Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Frederico Buchholz Maciel, Katsuyoshi Kitai, Satoshi Yoshizawa, Hideki Murahashi, Tatsuo Higuchi

Patent number: 6081826Abstract: In correspondence to an application, a resource table to manage computing resources which are available for the application is provided in a rule such that a plurality of applications can mutually use distributed computing resources which could be used so far by itself and can effectively use many distributed computing resources and an execution performance can be raised. When a certain application executes a cooperative processing together with another application, resource tables are copied and a new resource table for managing resources of both of them is formed. By referring to a newly formed resource table by each application, each application can use both of the computing resources more efficiently.Type: GrantFiled: March 11, 1997Date of Patent: June 27, 2000Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Yoshimasa Masuoka, Toyohiko Kagimasa, Katsuyoshi Kitai, Fumio Noda

Patent number: 5948069Abstract: A networking method and system for performing data communication to a client computer from a server computer having a plurality of network interfaces through a network. The invention includes a LAN switch, provided between the network and the server computer. The LAN switch includes a plurality of communication paths correspondingly connected to the network interfaces of the server computer. Any one of the communication paths are usable to connect the client computer with the server computer. The invention further includes a selector for selecting one of the communication paths in accordance with a quality of service (QOS) requested by the client computer. The selector selects the communication path using information contained in a routing table in the server computer based on a network address of the network connected to the client computer.Type: GrantFiled: July 19, 1996Date of Patent: September 7, 1999Assignee: Hitachi, Ltd.Inventors: Katsuyoshi Kitai, Satoshi Yoshizawa, Toyohiko Kagimasa, Fumio Noda, Yoshimasa Masuoka, Yoshifumi Takamoto

Patent number: 5774731Abstract: In order to reduce load at a resource managing node for exclusive control of a shared resource, each node has a group of lock state registers each corresponding to one of the nodes. Before one node issues a lock request to a resource managing node, the node checks the register group to see if the resource managing node is unlocked. With the target node found to be accessible, the access requesting node sends to a broadcast message exchange circuit a broadcast request message including a lock request regarding the resource managing node. The broadcast message exchange circuit receives such broadcast request messages from access requesting nodes, and changes them serially into broadcast messages for broadcast to all nodes. Of these broadcast messages, the first message received by each node is processed by its lock control circuit so that the lock request in that message is allowed to lock the resource managing node.Type: GrantFiled: July 5, 1996Date of Patent: June 30, 1998Assignees: Hitachi, Ltd., Hitachi ULSI Engineering Co., Ltd.Inventors: Tatsuo Higuchi, Toshiaki Tarui, Katsuyoshi Kitai, Shigeo Takeuchi, Tatsuru Toba, Machiko Asaie, Yasuhiro Inagami
