  • Patent number: 6228805
Abstract: Disclosed herein are a thermal transfer printing sheet capable of efficiently transferring images, letters, symbols or the like to both surfaces of an image-receiving material, and a process of double-side transfer printing using the same. The thermal transfer printing sheet comprises a substrate sheet; an area for surface transfer printing, comprising at least a sublimable dye layer composed of sections of one or more colors; and an area for reverse transfer printing, comprising at least a hot-melt ink layer composed of sections of ohe or more colors, the two areas being alternately provided on one surface of the substrate sheet. An image is printed on the surface of an image-receiving material by using the area for surface transfer printing, and another image is printed on the back of the image-receiving material by using the area for reverse transfer printing. Double-side transfer printing can thus be efficiently conducted without leaving unused areas on the thermal transfer printing sheet.

  • Patent number: 6162160
Abstract: A process for producing a card comprising:recording variable data comprising photographic data on at least one selected from a surface of a center core to be used for the card, and a back surface of an oversheet in a sheet form supplied from a roll thereof, by variable data recording means comprising a sublimation type thermal transfer device which uses a thermal transfer sheet having a dye layer imparted with a releasability, superposing the center core and the oversheet to form an integral laminate;cutting the integral laminate into a card form having a predetermined size.

  • Patent number: 5815190
Abstract: According to the present invention, a gradation image such as photographs and a non-gradation image read by an image processing means 13 of FIG. 2 are edited and laid out. Based on the data file, a dye receiving layer 21 is formed on a gradation image forming area on a paper mount 26 of FIG. 3 by image generating means 18, and a gradation image 22 is formed by thermal transfer method on said dye receiving layer. A non-gradation image 23 such as character combined with the gradation image is printed before and after the formation of the gradation image. Further, a protective layer 24 is formed on the gradation image 22 or the non-gradation image 23 when necessary, by protective layer transfer means incorporated in the image forming means 18. Thus, a card such as a visiting card 20 with a photograph or a booklet such as a passport can be prepared.

  • Patent number: 5410642
Abstract: A plurality of different kinds of information, for example, full-color photographic image information and attribute information such as a name, date of birth, etc., are input by use of a CCD scanner (1a), a camera (1b), a keyboard (1c), a mouse (1d), etc., with coordinate information assigned to each piece of information. The input pieces of information are matched with each other with reference to the coordinate information, and an arrangement of the coordinated information is determined with reference to layout information prepared separately, and then the information is printed out onto a card substrate. Thus, an ID card can be made accurately and efficiently. In addition, forgery prevention processing is applied by simultaneously inputting forgery prevention information and further falsification prevention processing is applied by carrying out emboss processing, thereby enabling an improvement in the security of the ID card.

  • Patent number: 5066384
Abstract: A process for refining coal-derived heavy carbonaceous materials such as pitch to remove quinline insolubles therefrom is disclosed. The process comprises providing a coal-derived heavy carbonaceous material from which all the components having normal boiling points of 270.degree. C. or below and all or part of the components having normal boiling points ranging from 270.degree. C. to 360.degree. C. have been removed; heating the heavy carbonaceous material to make it fluid; mixing the heated carbonaceous material with a ketone solvent having a boiling point below 200.degree. C. for a period sufficient to precipitate coarse insoluble particles in the mixture; separating the precipitated particles from the mixture; and removing the ketone solvent from the mixture, leaving a refined, coal-derived heavy carbonaceous material which is suitable for use in the production of high-grade carbon stocks such as needle coke, carbon fibers, high-purity carbon, etc., and for use as an impregnant or binder pitch.
