  • Publication number: 20120004287
Abstract: A therapeutic agent containing Vasohibin for diabetic nephropathy, and a therapeutic agent containing Vasohibin for peritoneal sclerosis. Since the therapeutic agent containing Vasohibin of the present invention is a substance in which Vasohibin inhibits angiogenesis in an autocrine manner, the therapeutic agent is effective for inhibiting the progression of diabetic nephropathy and peritoneal sclerosis in which the inhibition in the angiogenesis or the production of cytokine is important, so that the therapeutic agent is suitably used in, for example, the treatment of a disease requiring an action for inhibiting the progression of diabetic nephropathy, and a disease requiring an inhibitory action for peritoneal sclerosis, or the like.

  • Patent number: 7060127
Abstract: Silica-calcium carbonate composition particles having the characteristics of both synthetic silica and calcium carbonate are described along with paper having the particles internally filled therein and a method for making the particles. In the carbonation reaction, which typically involves a step of forming calcium carbonate, while agitating a calcium hydroxide slurry, a mixed gas of carbon dioxide and air is introduced thereinto and synthetic silica, such as colloidal silica or the like, is added before the carbonation rate arrives at 95% but after commencement of the carbonation reaction, followed by further introduction of the mixed gas to continue the carbonation reaction and completion of the carbonation reaction at the time when the pH of the slurry reaches 7, thereby providing the composite particles.

  • Patent number: 6991677
Abstract: Titanium dioxide-calcium carbonate composite particles capable of realizing characteristic properties inherent in titanium dioxide such as a high opacity, a process for producing the same, and a complex composition or complex incorporated with the same are provided. The composite particles were prepared by adding titanium dioxide particles having an average particle diameter of 0.1 to 0.5 ?m in a carbonation step, typically a step of introducing a gaseous mixture of carbon dioxide and air into a calcium hydroxide slurry with stirring, to conduct a carbonation, and continuing the reaction till pH of the slurry becomes 7 by continuous introduction of the gaseous mixture. Moreover, by incorporating the formed composite particles, complexes such as coatings and paints for paper making or composite materials such as paper, plastic molded materials, and rubber molded materials are produced.

  • Patent number: 6235185
Abstract: There are provided a method of and an apparatus for producing ultrafine metal compound particles. An electrolytic bath having an anode and a cathode is partitioned into chambers by at least one ion exchange layer. An electrolytic solution containing metal ions as a starting material for the ultrafine metal compound particles is contained in a chamber on the anodic side of one ion exchange layer, and an alkaline electrolytic solution is contained in a chamber on the cathodic side of the ion exchange layer. When a voltage is applied between the anode and the cathode, the metal ions transfer from the anodic side chamber to the cathodic side chamber through the ion exchange layer, whereby ultrafine metal compound particles are precipitated in the alkaline electrolytic solution in the cathodic side chamber.

  • Patent number: 5935608
Abstract: An antibacterial titania comprising a titania to which ions of an antibacterial metal are adhered, wherein the antibacterial metal is silver; and the antibacterial titania further contains chlorine at a Cl/Ag molar ratio in a range of from 2.8 to 7.2. A process for producing an antibacterial titania which comprises the steps of: (1) incorporating a salt of an antibacterial metal into a slurry of metatitanic acid to adhere ions of the antibacterial metal to titania in the metatitanic acid slurry; and (2) adding a source of chlorine ions to the slurry, wherein the antibacterial metal is silver.
