Patent number: 8803269Abstract: A wafer scale implementation of an opto-electronic transceiver assembly process utilizes a silicon wafer as an optical reference plane and platform upon which all necessary optical and electronic components are simultaneously assembled for a plurality of separate transceiver modules. In particular, a silicon wafer is utilized as a “platform” (interposer) upon which all of the components for a multiple number of transceiver modules are mounted or integrated, with the top surface of the silicon interposer used as a reference plane for defining the optical signal path between separate optical components. Indeed, by using a single silicon wafer as the platform for a large number of separate transceiver modules, one is able to use a wafer scale assembly process, as well as optical alignment and testing of these modules.Type: GrantFiled: May 3, 2012Date of Patent: August 12, 2014Assignee: Cisco Technology, Inc.Inventors: Kalpendu Shastri, Vipulkumar Patel, Mark Webster, Prakash Gothoskar, Ravinder Kachru, Soham Pathak, Rao V. Publication number: 20140188149Abstract: Catheter devices having low profile shafts and laterally deployable members (e.g., cannulas, needles, etc.) that may be extended or advanced laterally from the catheter shaft. Also disclosed are methods for bypassing a vascular obstruction (e.g., a chronic total occlusion or other full or partial obstruction) wherein a guidewire is entrapped in a subintimal space adjacent to the obstruction. A catheter of the foregoing character is advanced over the entrapped guidewire and into the subintimal space. The laterally deployable member is then advanced or extended from the subintimal space back into the true lumen of the blood vessel distal to the obstruction. A second guidewire is then advanced through or along the laterally deployable member. The catheter and first guidewire are then removed and one or more working device(s) (balloons, atherectomy devices, stents, etc.) is/are advanced over the second guidewire and used to establish a subintimal bypass channel through which blood may flow around the obstruction.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 20, 2013Publication date: July 3, 2014Applicant: Medtronic Vascular, Inc.Inventor: Kaushik PATEL

Patent number: 8336794Abstract: A paper shredder comprising a housing, cutters positioned in the housing, and a feeder base adapted to support a stack of paper. The feeder base includes a feed slot and an aperture providing communication between a top surface of the feeder base and a waste area. An edge defines at least a portion of the aperture and is oriented at an angle oblique to the feeder slot. The edge can be positioned at an angle of 3 degrees to 70 degrees, and preferably at about 10 degrees relative to the feeder slot. Preferably, the edge includes a first section at an angle of between 3 degrees and 20 degrees relative to the feeder slot, and a second section at an angle of between 20 degrees and 45 degrees relative to the feeder slot. Publication number: 20120265234Abstract: An implant configured for ingestion by a patient. After the implant has been swallowed by the patient and is disposed within the target location, e.g. the patient's stomach, an inflation subcomponent causes the implant to expand from a compact delivery state to an expanded, volume-occupying, deployed state. In the deployed state the implant creates a sensation of satiety in the patient stomach and thereby aids in limiting food intake and obesity. After a predetermined time a deflation subcomponent is actuated and the implant reduces in size so as to allow it to pass through the remainder of the patient's digestive track. The device may further incorporate tracking and visualization subcomponents, as well as pharmaceutical delivery subcomponents.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 23, 2012Publication date: October 18, 2012Applicant: Obalon Therapeutics, Inc.Inventors: Mark C. Brister, Nelson Quintana, Kaushik A. Patel, Neil R. Drake, Antonio C. Llevares, Dubravka Markovic, Andrew P. Rasdal, Amy D.L. VandenBerg
