  • Patent number: 9531573
Abstract: To reduce the duration of a cyclic prefix used for a multiple input, multiple output (MIMO) communications channel, delay spread variations for different transmit/receive beam pair combination is estimated and used for fast beam switching and to support single user MIMO (SU-MIMO) even when the CP difference between two beams is large. Beam switching reference signals are employed to estimate delay spread exceeding current CP, and to support beam switching. CP covering sub-clusters within clusters for the MIMO channel are exploited to reduce the CP requirement and improve efficiency. Any one of a number of different CP durations may be selected for each different mobile station, using one of a finite set of subframe configurations for which the CP durations of different symbol locations within the subframe are predefined. Dynamically switching subframe configurations by the system accommodates high mobility.

  • Patent number: 9414371
Abstract: Time, frequency and spatial processing parameters for communications between a base station and a mobile station are selected by transmitting synchronization signals in multiple slices of a wireless transmission sector for the base station, and receiving feedback from the mobile station of at least one preferred slice of the multiple slices. In response to selection of one of the slices as an active slice for communications between the base station and the mobile station, reference signals are transmitted in the selected active slice using a corresponding selected precoder and/or codebook. The mobile station estimates and feeds back channel state information (CSI) based on those reference signals, and the CSI is then employed to determine communication parameters for communications between the base station and mobile station that are specific to the mobile station.

  • Publication number: 20160080115
Abstract: An AP receives, from one or more STAs, an uplink orthogonal frequency division multiple access based block acknowledgement response in an 802.11 based wireless network. The AP transmits the downlink allocation for the downlink frame to the plurality of mobile devices, wherein the order of the plurality of mobile devices in the downlink allocation indicates respective uplink resource assignments. The STA receives a downlink frame with an allocation comprising the listing of a plurality of mobile devices for which data is transmitted in the downlink frame. The STA identifies an uplink resource allocation as a function of a location of a first mobile device within the listing of the plurality of mobile devices. The STA then transmits an acknowledgment on the uplink resource allocation corresponding to the location of a first mobile device within the listing of the plurality of mobile devices.

  • Patent number: 9106375
Abstract: A base station and subscriber station are capable of communicating with each other in a wireless communication network. The base station allocates resources to the subscriber station through resource allocation messages included in a resource allocation region of a downlink communication. The resource allocation region is partitioned into a plurality of sub-regions. Conventions regarding the arrangement of the resource allocation messages are disclosed which enable the subscriber station to decode the resource allocation messages contained in a sub-region and cease decoding operations upon reaching the end of the sub-region. Accordingly, the subscriber station does not decode resource allocation messages contained in subsequent sub-regions.

If the SS is a legal user, and conditions to initiate IM are met, the interfering BS will perform IM until conditions to terminate IM are met. If the SS is connected to a serving BS, the serving BS will request the interfering BS to perform or terminate interference mitigation (IM) on behalf of the SS if certain conditions are satisfied.
