  • Patent number: 11942703
Abstract: A phased array antenna includes multiple antenna elements where each antenna element is an antenna apparatus that includes an antenna integrated with a filter. Each antenna apparatus includes a plurality of resonators where at least some of the resonators are each enclosed in a metal cavity and at least one resonator is exposed to free space to form a radiator element. Each antenna apparatus has a filter transfer function that is at least partially determined by dimensions of the radiator element and the position of the radiator element within the antenna apparatus. • Patent number: 6535083
Abstract: A ridge waveguide filter which is formed of metallized blind vias in a plurality of contiguous layers of a dielectric medium including low temperature cofired ceramic (LTCC), high temperature cofired ceramic (HTCC) or organic printed wiring boards (PWB) in the fabrication of the waveguide sidewalls and solid ground planes to provide top and bottom walls as well as in the formation of a plurality of ridge waveguide sections in an embedded ridge waveguide structure. Patterns of conductive metal are selectively printed on the outer surface of certain dielectric layers to electrically short all the vias in the ridge waveguide sections and the adjacent wall vias so that the elements behave as though they comprise a solid metal structure.

  • Patent number: 5939958
Abstract: Disclosed is a planar dual mode microstrip filter with the coupling between similar modes on different patches governed by the spacing between the patches rather than by microstrip coupling lines between the patches. The patches are shaped to allow dual mode coupling. The materials used in building this filter were an alumina substrate with gold metalization. The filter is encased in a conducting box made from a conducting material. One advantage of the proximity coupled structure is that it reduces the number of parts, complexity and allows the filter to be realized in a smaller space than in previous dual mode designs. This filter is useful in satellite communications, radar, and cellular communications. High temperature superconductor materials can be used in a planar microstrip form.

  • Patent number: 5382931
Abstract: Waveguide filters having a laminated dielectric structure for resonating at a predetermined frequency and having a series of longitudinally spaced resonators. A selected plural number of individual layers of high dielectric low temperature co-fired ceramic are laminated into a monolithic structure and then plated with a conductive material. Each of the individual layers is dimensioned and the number of layers is selected so that the unit resonates at the predetermined frequency. A waveguide filter is also described where a select plural number of contiguous layers of low temperature co-fired ceramic are laminated and plated with a conductive material. A series of vertically placed vias are positioned so as to form a perimeter of a waveguide filter. A plurality of individual layers of low temperature co-fired ceramic are laminated to the monolithic structure to form a laminated unit so that electrical components and the waveguide filter can be integrated into a single package.

  • Patent number: 5268659
Abstract: Dual-mode resonators are coupled together to form a highly selective bandpass filter by means of a short section of waveguide. The short sections have cutoff frequencies beyond the passband of the filter. The coupling is adjustable over a wide range by means of adjustable screws. The coupling means is applicable to both empty cavities and dielectric-resonator-loaded cavities.

  • Patent number: 5083102
Abstract: A microwave band pass filter including dual-mode dielectric resonators mounted in a tubular enclosure to achieve coupling among the resonators without an iris. The filter is implemented in a canonical symmetric form, as longitudinal dual-mode realization or a canonical asymmetric form. The microwave band pass filter has input and output coaxial probes located along the enclosure with tuning and coupling screws provided to enable adjustment control of the frequency of resonance of the dielectric resonators and to control the coupling of energy from one resonant mode to an orthogonal mode in the same resonator. Lastly, the coupling of energy from one resonator to an adjacent resonator is accomplished by properly placed coupling screws.
