  • Patent number: 8519713
Abstract: Embodiments of the present invention provide systems and methods for detection and/or measurement of gaseous components of multiphase mixtures containing one or more hydrocarbons that may be retrieved down a wellbore or may be being transported in a pipeline. More specifically, but not by way of limitation, embodiments of the present invention may provide for separation of the gaseous components from the multiphase mixtures and detection and/or measurement of the separated gaseous components by direct oxidation or reduction.

  • Publication number: 20120064632
Abstract: The present invention provides an electrochemical sensor having a solid electrically conductive substrate and a compound immobilized thereon which has binding affinity for an analyte species to be detected and also displays electrochemical behaviour which is modified upon binding of that analyte species, so that binding of an analyte species can be detected by measuring electrochemical properties, such as by voltammetry. Desirably the immobilised compound contains both a first moiety with binding affinity for the analyte and a separate second moiety which is a redox system whose electrochemical oxidation/reduction properties become modified when the first moiety binds the analyte. The analyte binding moiety may be a diol or polyol and preferably is a sugar. The electrochemical sensor finds use in methods of analysing reservoir and process fluids, particularly at a subterranean location. The electrochemical sensor may be a component of a downhole tool, adapted for deployment downhole.

  • Publication number: 20110220358
Abstract: A sugar-based assembly is provided for the removal of a component from a reservoir or process fluid. The sugar-based assembly comprises a sugar optionally bound to a support, and where the support is present, the sugar is bound directly to the support or via a linker group, and the use of the sugar-based assembly in methods of purification of reservoir or process fluids, including subterranean reservoir and process fluids.

  • Patent number: 7858561
Abstract: A viscosifying agent for wellbore fluids is described including a polymer polymerized using at least two pre-polymers “A” and “B”, the polymer being capable of essentially fully degrading into soluble fragments after the initiation of a breaking process.

  • Publication number: 20090105097
Abstract: Novel wellbore service fluids are disclosed. The fluid may include an aqueous solvent and a synthetic degradable polymer that is soluble in the solvent. In a controlled way the molecular weight of the polymer may be reduced in response to internal or external triggers at the required time and temperature. The polymers are formed by essentially non degradable polymer chains “polymer type A” copolymerized with essentially degradable polymer chains “polymer type B”. This feature of “selective degradation” is not present in any of the polymeric fluids known as friction reducers.

  • Publication number: 20060078593
Abstract: Disclosed are nutritional compositions having a solid crisp matrix, or a flour derived from the solid crisp matrix, said matrix comprising (A) from about 10% to about 50% by weight of a soluble viscous fiber, preferably guar; (B) from about 10% to about 99% by weight of a carbohydrate other than and in addition to the soluble viscous fiber; and (C) from about 1% to about 49% by weight of protein, wherein the matrix has a bulk density of less than about 0.4 g/cc. It has been found that soluble viscous fiber sources such as guar gum can be formulated into a solid crisp matrix, which then minimizes several limitations commonly associated with the formulation of such fiber sources into a conventional nutrition bar, e.g. slimy mouthfeel, tooth packing. These compositions are especially effective when formulated with gelled inclusions, including those containing or associated with acidulants, sour flavorants, or both.

  • Patent number: 4614554
Abstract: A gasket made of compressed expanded graphite particles bonded to an apertured reinforcement plate whose apertures are bridged by a relatively narrow area, as in a cylinder head gasket, is made by pressing the graphite particles onto the face of the plate without transverse support of those particles at the periphery of the plate apertures, by pressing between two compressor belts.
