Abstract: Compounds of the general formula I ##STR1## in which n is 1, 2 or 3 and in which X is oxygen or sulfur, T has the meaning of --S--, --S--S--, --S--S--, --S--S--S--S--, --S--S--S--S--S--, ##STR2## and Y has the meaning of ##STR3## in which Z has the meaning of --H, --COR.sup.13, --COOR.sup.13 or --CONHR.sup.13, and Q has the meaning of oxygen or --NR.sup.0 --, and R.sup.1, R.sup.2, R.sup.0, R.sup.4 and R.sup.13 are as defined in claim 1, with the proviso that the compound of the formula C.sub.2 H.sub.5 --S--CH.sub.2 CH(OH)--P(OC.sub.2 H.sub.5).sub.2 is excepted.The invention also relates to compositions containing the compounds of the formula I and organic materials, for example functional liquids and, in particular, lubricants.

Abstract: Novel compounds of the formula (I) ##STR1## in which X is oxygen or sulfur, R and R.sub.1 independently of one another are C.sub.3 -C.sub.30 alkyl, R.sub.2 is C.sub.4 -C.sub.18 alkyl and R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 independently of one another are H, C.sub.1 -C.sub.20 alkyl, C.sub.3 -C.sub.20 alkenyl, benzyl, phenyl or phenyl which is substituted by C.sub.1 -C.sub.12 alkyl, and in which R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 can also be a direct bond, or R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 together are trimethylene, tetramethylene, ##STR2## and R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 are a direct bond or H, or in each case R.sub.3 and R.sub.6 together are a group .dbd.CH.sub.2 and R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are H, or R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 together are a group .dbd.CH.sub.2 and R.sub.3 and R.sub.6 are H, or R.sub.3, R.sub.4, R.sub.5 and R.sub.6 together are ##STR3## and salts of these compounds, are described.

Abstract: The present invention provides a lubricant composition comprising a lubricating oil and, as multifunctional additive, at least one compound having the formula I: ##STR1## or amine salts thereof; wherein R.sub.1 and R.sub.2, independently, are hydrogen or methyl; n and m, independently, are 0 or 1; and X is SR.sub.3 or NR.sub.4 R.sub.5 wherein R.sub.3 is C.sub.12 -C.sub.20 linear or branched alkyl R.sub.4 and R.sub.5 are independently, C.sub.8 -C.sub.20 linear or branched alkyl provided that those compounds of formula I are excluded in which m and n are each 0, X is S-C.sub.8 -C.sub.20 linear or branched alkyl and R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are as defined.
