  • Patent number: 9950781
Abstract: An effector for an aircraft has an effector body and a stealth sheath enclosing the effector body at least in part. The stealth shell is attached to the effector body and embodied so as to be separated from the aircraft and from the effector body during flight of the aircraft carrying the effector.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 1, 2015
Date of Patent: April 24, 2018
Assignee: Airbus Defence and Space GmbH
Inventors: Kay W. Dittrich, Juan Perez-Sanchez
  • Patent number: 9774077
Abstract: A radome having a core layer and two cover layers and method of forming the radome. The core layer is arranged between the two cover layers. Each of the two cover layers is composed of a plurality of partial layers which, by their respective dielectric constant, are embodied such that the radome provides a high mechanical stability and a high electromagnetic transparency. The dielectric constant of adjacent partial layers thereby alternates from relatively high to relatively low in the direction towards the core layer, and vice versa.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: April 9, 2015
Date of Patent: September 26, 2017
Assignee: AIRBUS DEFENCE AND SPACE GMBH
Inventors: Peter Starke, Kay W. Dittrich, Clemens Brand
  • Patent number: 9548531
Abstract: A method is provided for manufacturing a radome. The method has the following steps: creation of a contoured fit of at least one section of an inner surface of a wall of the radome; arrangement of a plurality of planar photosensitive semiconductor elements on an outer surface of the contoured fit; placement of the contoured fit with the plurality of planar photosensitive semiconductor elements on the at least one section of the inner surface of the wall; establishing of a connection between the plurality of planar photosensitive semiconductor elements and the wall; and removal of the contoured fit from the radome. This method enables the simple manufacture of a radome with a layer having several semiconductor elements for the electromagnetic shielding of the interior of the radome.

Date of Patent: January 17, 2017
Assignee: Airbus Defence and Space GmbH

  • Patent number: 7896294
Abstract: A cover skin for a variable-shape aerodynamic area, such as a wing structure, tail unit structure, control surface structure or flap structure is described. A cover skin is deformable in one direction without exhibiting substantial deformation in a transverse direction. A deformable framework structure is embedded in a layer of an elastic material, such as rubber or polymer. The framework structure may be comprised of non-deformable elements joined pivotably in auxetic and non-auxetic assemblies of elements that are capable of substantially eliminating transversal contraction, when the cover skin is longitudinal stretched, and substantially eliminating transversal expansion, when the cover skin is longitudinally contracted.
