  • Publication number: 20110033089
Abstract: An apparatus for appraising the genuineness of personal identification documents is provided with: an image reading section that reads an image of a personal identification document; an extraction section that extracts a monochromatic filled region from the image read by the image reading section; and a decision section that decides that the personal identification document is forged if a specified image pattern is present in the monochromatic filled region extracted by the extraction section, and that decides that a personal identification document is not forged if the specified image pattern is not present in the filled region.

  • Publication number: 20070294138
Abstract: Predetermined spaces at different positions in a whole space possible to be given position information by dot patterns are allotted to a plurality of entry boxes provided in a sheet, and definition information for each sheet is associated in advance with the relation between the plural entry boxes and the spaces allotted thereto. At the time of the entry in the sheet, a pen device reads the dot pattern at the entry position and decodes the position information to output the position information to a host device. The host device determines a customer code corresponding to an arrangement of space numbers by using a series of the position information acquired from the pen device and a space number determination table.

  • Patent number: 7181068
Abstract: A mathematical expression recognizing device comprises a character recognition unit which recognizes characters in a document image, a dictionary storing a pair of evaluation scores for each type of word, the score showing the possibility of belonging to the text and that of belonging to the mathematical expression, an evaluation unit which obtains the evaluation scores showing the possibility of belonging to the text and that of belonging to the mathematical expression for each of the words included in the recognized characters with reference to the dictionary, and a mathematical expression detecting unit which searches for an optimal path connecting words by selecting one of the text and the mathematical expression based on a formative grammar and the evaluation scores showing the possibility of belonging to the text and that of belonging to the mathematical expression for each of the words, thereby detecting characters belonging to the mathematical expression.

  • Patent number: 7099508
Abstract: A plurality of document definition information for identifying documents, and format control information for recognizing a character recorded on a document corresponding to each of the plurality of document definition information are held beforehand, documents targeted for character recognition are identified as specific documents based on document images of the entered documents targeted for character recognition and the document definition information and, based on a result of the identification, character recognition is executed by using corresponding format control information. A document definition device adds a plane area of each of documents to be identified to the document definition. An OCR device checks the plane area on the document by using the document definition before check of a preprint accompanied by character recognition.

  • Patent number: 6614929
Abstract: An apparatus for detecting a character writing area inputs a plurality of images of written documents respectively having different characters recorded thereon to an existing document. The apparatus produces a common image and a differential image, based on the input images. By using of the common image and the differential image, a character-writing-areas are detected and an attribute is set for each of the areas. A format used for the written document is produced by using of the character-writing-areas and set attributes.

  • Patent number: 6334003
Abstract: A data input system is provided with an input pen. A sequence of characters are traced with the input pen, and image data on them are read from the image scanner incorporated in the input pen. Each character is recognized on the basis of the image data. If a recognition error occurs during the input processing, a correct character is written with the input pen. A locus of movement is traced on the basis of moving distance data, which is obtained by a moving distance sensor and includes a moving distance and a moving direction. A character represented by the traced locus is recognized.
