  • Publication number: 20020037417
Abstract: A coating composition comprising a silicone resin having at least two types of fluorinated organic substituent groups and hydroxyl or monovalent hydrolyzable groups forms, through brief curing at low temperature, a uniform transparent coating having a low refractive index (e.g., below 1.42) and a high hardness as well as excellent water repellency, oil repellency, and antifouling property. Stacking the coating on a high refractive index layer results in an antireflection article having an improved reflectance.

  • Patent number: 6037394
Abstract: A primer composition comprising (A) an acrylic resin, (B) a benzotriazole compound having not more than 1% by weight of heat loss when held at 150.degree. C. for 1 hour, and (C) an organic solvent. Also disclosed are an article obtained by forming a primer coat of the primer composition on the surface of a substrate, and an article obtained by forming the primer coat on the surface of a transparent plastic substrate and coating on the primer coat a protective coat comprising a condensation type curable silicone resin. The primer coat, which contains the above benzotriazole compound as an ultraviolet light absorber, has a superior weatherability while maintaining a good adhesion to the substrate.

  • Patent number: 5945172
Abstract: A coating agent composition comprising an organopolysiloxane resin: with the organopolysiloxane resin having a number average molecular weight of at least 500 and acrylic or methacrylic functional group-attached silicon atoms in a proportion of 5 to 100 mole % to the total silicon atoms; and with the resin comprising units represented by formula R.sup.1 LSiX.sub.3 in a proportion of 30 to 100 mole %, wherein R.sup.1 is a hydrogen atom or a substituted or unsubstituted organic group having 1 to 18 carbon atoms and X is a hydroxyl group, a hydrolyzable group or a siloxane residue, provided that at least one X is a siloxane residue; wherein from 30 to 80 mole % of the R.sup.1 SiX.sub.3 units are one silanol group-containing units represented by formula R.sup.1 Si(OH)Y.sub.2 wherein Y is a siloxane residue.

  • Patent number: 5134191
Abstract: A hard coating composition comprising an epoxy group-containing organic silicon compound and inorganic submicron particles such as silica sol is curable with a minimal amount of an antimony compound as the curing catalyst. The composition is thus stable during shelf storage and can be cured to a plastic optical article as a mar resistant hard coating film.
