  • Publication number: 20090034391
Abstract: [Problems] To provide an optical information reproducing device capable of performing excellent super resolution reproduction at all times without complicating the hardware structure. [Means for Solving Problems] An optical information reproducing device (10) irradiates a laser beam to an optical information recording medium (16) in which effective spot size of the irradiated laser beam changes in accordance with intensity of the laser beam and reproduces information. The optical information reproducing device (10) includes: an asymmetry detection unit (13) as asymmetry detection device for obtaining asymmetry from a reproduction signal obtained by reproducing the information; and a laser power adjusting unit (14) as laser power adjusting device for controlling the laser beam intensity according to the asymmetry obtained by the asymmetry detection unit (13).

  • Patent number: 7318161
Abstract: An encrypted file is constituted by an assemblage of records having a plurality of items, and at least key items among the plurality of items that are keys in a retrieval are encrypted. The expansion means of a retrieval device decrypts at least key items of each record of the encrypted file, attaches identifiers that indicate which records the key items belong to, and expands the decrypted key items and identifiers in a work area of a main memory. A retrieval means retrieves from the work area key items that satisfy retrieval conditions that are applied by the user, reads the appropriate original records from the encrypted file if retrieval succeeds, decrypts the records, and presents them to the user.

  • Patent number: 6168524
Abstract: Each character that makes an appearance in a game is provided with a program, which is independent of other programs, for deciding the action of the character, and with a program counter. These mutually independent programs are run in parallel. The speed at which the program advances differs for each character. A character representing the player is endowed with the highest speed of advance, and this character is given the highest priority in parallel processing as well. Interaction among characters is realized by communication among the programs, and an order of priority is assigned to communication among programs. As a result, the game is provided with a greater sense of surprise and the program game is easier to create.

  • Patent number: 5754310
Abstract: For the purpose of efficiently determining the transmission capacity of a digital relay transmission path, adjusting the phase between commands and responses, and detecting faults, in the case in which a judgment is made that the image information transmission path capacity between communication apparatuses is smaller than or inferior to the performance of the communication apparatuses, when a training signal for the purpose of performing a circuit check is sent from a transmitting-side facsimile machine, the transmitting-side communication apparatus intentionally sends a failed training signal to the receiving-side communication apparatus, this giving notice of an abnormal termination, in response to which the transmitting-side facsimile machine performs a fallback operation so as to reduce the communication speed to a speed at which relaying is possible between the communication apparatuses before sending the image information.

  • Patent number: 5272746
Abstract: A method of evaluating the degree of fatigue in a material to be inspected before the occurrence of a microcrack from data measured nondestructively through the measurement of diffracted beams of X-rays. A fatigue test is performed by applying a predetermined class of repeating stress predicted in a service environment of the material to be inspected to a reference piece of a quality corresponding to the material. A diffracted X-ray measurement is performed on the reference piece at a plurality of points of time during the fatigue test so that in accordance with the measurement results a fatigue characteristic curve is obtained which corresponds to the relation between the integrated amounts of the repeating stress and the intensities of the diffracted beams of X-rays.

  • Patent number: 3988042
Abstract: An antiskid control system for vehicles which prevents the vehicle body from making irregular turns due to locking of wheels when the brake is applied. The brake pressure is reduced when the commencement of a locked state of the wheels is detected. On the other hand, a minimum value of the wheel velocity is memorized; the memorized value is compared with the wheel velocity; and through this comparison, the time for stopping the brake pressure reducing action is determined.
