  • Patent number: 5495278
Abstract: In an image forming apparatus including a pulse-width modulating unit for subjecting an image-density signal to pulse-width modulation and an image-forming unit for forming an image in accordance with a pulse-width modulation signal outputted by the pulse-width modulating unit, an arrangement is provided such that the image is formed with a small number of lines when the image density is a low density, while the image is formed with a large number of lines when the image density is a medium/high density. In an example of the arrangement thereof, the pulse-width modulating unit has a unit for effecting modulation on the basis of a plurality of different modulation periods, and is provided with a selecting unit for selecting a modulation period of a pulse-width modulated wave to be outputted, in accordance with the image-density signal.

  • Patent number: 5416506
Abstract: An image forming apparatus which comprises a laser light source, a light beam scanning unit which scans an image receiving member with a light beam, and an optical system for forming a spot of the light beam, which has a predetermined diameter. The light beam is modulated by a pulse modulation unit based on the density data of an image. The size of picture elements formed on the image receiving member is a function of parameters of the laser scanning unit and the pulse modulation unit, and the spot size is designed at least 1.7 times as large as the corresponding size of picture elements.

  • Patent number: 5349374
Abstract: Disclosed is a color image forming device in which latent images are formed by radiating a light beam onto a photoreceptor for each of colors, the latent images are developed to provide visible images, and a recording medium is transported to the visible images a plurality of times to form on the recording medium a color image consisting of a plurality of colors. The color image forming device includes a unit for detecting a reference transporting position of the recording medium to be moved to the photoreceptor, a unit for detecting a scan start signal of the light beam, a unit for measuring an error time from detection of the reference transporting position to detection of the scan start signal, and a unit for correcting a radiation timing of the light beam in accordance with the error time.

  • Patent number: 5308300
Abstract: A step-type training machine in which the exerciser trains using a predetermined load while detecting the pulse of the exerciser, and in accordance with data (e.g. the age, sex and weight) inputted before the training and various data (e.g. the exerciser's pulse) during the training, the step load is varied and controlled during the training so as to impart the optimum exercise load to the exerciser.

  • Patent number: 5220357
Abstract: Disclosed is an image forming apparatus and method for forming a color toner image on a transparent overhead projector film, characterized in that the product of the height of the color toner image construction h and the spatial frequency 1/.lambda. is 0.036 or less. The height of the image construction h can be determined by varying the toner weight per unit area on the transparent film and the spatial frequency 1/.lambda. can be determined by varying the resolution so that h/.lambda. the is 0.036 or less.
