  • Patent number: 6768880
Abstract: A latent image is formed on a photoreceptor. Each of a plurality of toner carriers carries toner of a single color to be transferred onto the photoreceptor to make the latent image visible. Each of the toner carriers is fixed at a predetermined distance from a surface of the photoreceptor. A first bias supplier supplies a first bias required to transfer the toner to the photoreceptor to one of the toner carriers which is subjected to a developing operation. A second bias supplier supplies a second bias which is not enough to transfer the toner to the photoreceptor to the other toner carriers which are not subjected to the developing operation.

  • Patent number: 6633402
Abstract: The present invention is a printer controller furnished with a processor for exclusively executing a first task (printing task) for controlling a print engine, a second task (communication task) for controlling communication with host computers, and a third task (language task) for generating image data. These tasks are assigned priorities of execution in the order of the printing task, the communication task, and the language task. When there is a request for the execution of a task with a higher priority during the execution of a task with a lower priority, the processor executes the higher priority task whose execution has been requested instead of the lower priority task currently being executed. Therefore, the processor is able to execute the communication task, language task, and printing task with no conflict.

  • Patent number: 5671163
Abstract: In a page printer (3), a controller (7) calculates the length of paper from a paper size specified by a host computer (1) and notifies a printing portion (11) of the calculated paper length, and the printing portion (11) executes the feeding of paper (13) which is set based on the assumption that the paper (13) has the paper length notified by the controller (7). The printing portion (11) measures the actual length of the paper (13) during the paper feeding and notifies the controller (7) of the measured actual paper length, while the controller (7) judges in accordance with the actual paper length notified by the printing portion (11) whether there is present a paper size error. If it is found that the paper size error is present, then the controller (7) assumes the actual width of the paper (13) from the actual paper length of the paper (13), and then compares the actual length and width of the paper (13) with the greatest length and width of a printed image.

Abstract: A page printer and system including a page printer. The page printer and each paper handling accessory device within the system includes a control unit. The control unit of the printer includes a main control unit and an auxiliary control unit. The main control unit supplies at least recording format data associated with the recording format of the recording data to the auxiliary control unit. The main control unit also inspects the specifications of each accessary device which have been previously stored in the auxiliary control unit to place the system in a standby state prior to receiving instructions to begin printing. The auxiliary control unit stores the specifications associated with each optional device and the recording format data and controls the operation of the page printer and each accessary device.

  • Patent number: 4520399
Abstract: A picture information display having a control circuit for determining a reductive ratio which is set in a size converting circuit in accordance with the size of an orginal and the size of a display area at a display unit. The size converting circuit reduces the size of the picture information read out from a page buffer memory of the control circuit in accordance with the reductive ratio. The readout picture information is stored in a refresh memory of a display interface. The display unit displays the size-reduced picture information of the refresh memory. The reductive ratio is so selected that the picture information stored in the refresh memory is displayed over the entire region of a display area of the display unit.

  • Patent number: 4517658
Abstract: A first location and a last location of the required part of a first piece of picture information displayed at a display part are specified by cursors. Cleared data is transferred to a picture element memory where said picture information is stored for removing unnecessary picture information. The extracted necessary picture information is recorded in a magnetic tape device. Only the necessary part of a second piece of picture information is extracted in a similar manner and is recorded in the magnetic tape device. A logic sum of a title input from the keyboard and said first piece of picture information is obtained for each scanning line to provide a first synthesized picture. A logic sum of the first synthesized picture and said second piece of picture information is obtained for each line to provide a second synthesized picture.

  • Patent number: 4339805
Abstract: An information recording system is provided with a page buffer for storing one page information of those pieces of information supplied from an exterior information supplier. The information stored in the page buffer is read out character by character and the read-out information is latched in a character selection latch circuit capable of storing one character. The row information of a character arranged in a dot matrix corresponding to the character read out is latched in a row selection latch circuit. The information produced from said character selection latch circuit and the row selection latch circuit are supplied to a character generator. Upon receipt of the information, the character generator produces the given dot information in parallel. The dot information are supplied to a shift-register where those are converted into a serial form of information.

  • Patent number: 4322717
Abstract: A recording character configuration changing system is provided with a pulse signal generator for producing pulse signals as a reference. The output signals from the pulse signal generator is inputted to a preset counter which changes the frequency of a signal inputted thereinto in accordance with a value set therein. The signal with the changed frequency is applied to a shift register for effecting parallel-serial convertion of a dot signal. As a result, the exposure time intervals due to the dot signal are changed to change the horizontal size of a character to be recorded. The recording character configuration changing system is further provided with a blanking counter. By setting a proper value into the blanking counter, a time interval between the starts of an exposure scanning to the succeeding exposure scanning is changed to change the vertical size of the character to be recorded.
