  • Patent number: 8129902
Abstract: An organic EL display device includes a substrate, pixel regions, each having a first electrode, a light emitting material layer, and a second electrode, and a bank film formed by a laminated structure of a plurality of inorganic material films having different etching rates from one another formed above the substrate to separate pixel regions from one another. The bank film has openings exposing upper surfaces of the first electrodes to the light emitting material layers, and the second electrode is formed over the openings in common with the pixel regions. A side wall of the bank film around the openings thereof is sloped at an angle 10 to 85 degrees (°) with respect to a principal surface of the substrate to prevent deterioration of the light emitting material layer and disconnection of the second electrode at steps of the bank film in the vicinity of the openings.

  • Publication number: 20110018788
Abstract: A solid-sealing type organic EL display device having an excellent mechanical strength, sealed by a highly reliable sealing method and in which the luminescence property is less deteriorated. A laminate film including a thermoplastic adhesive member and a barrier layer against moisture is disposed on an upper electrode that is situated over an organic EL layer. In a sealing part existed in a periphery of the display region, only a metal oxide film which is formed of metal alkoxide exists between an edge of the laminate film and the element substrate. The organic EL element is surrounded only by an inorganic film so that moisture permeation from the outside can be prevented. Moreover the sealing part is composed of the inorganic film having an excellent sealing property against water thereby it is possible to make a width of the sealing part small.

  • Publication number: 20090096366
Abstract: An organic EL display device which can prolong a lifetime by suppressing a growth of black spots when the display device is operated for a long time can be realized. An element substrate on which organic EL layers are formed is hermetically adhered to a sealing substrate on which a desiccant is mounted by way of a sealing portion. The element substrate and the sealing substrate are curved outwardly. Particularly, by curving the element substrate outwardly, a growth of black points can be prevented when the organic EL display device is operated for a long time. Accordingly, a lifetime of the organic EL display device can be remarkably prolonged.

Abstract: The present invention enhances the light utilization efficiency of an organic EL display device. A pixel electrode PXE is formed on a protective film PAS and first banks BNKA which are constituted of a first insulation layer are formed on the pixel electrode PXE in a convex shape. On the pixel electrode PXE, in a B1 region and a B2 region defined between a pair of first banks BNKA (A1 region, A2 region), second-1 banks BNKB-1 which are constituted of a second insulation layer and are slightly raised are formed. Further, on the second-1 banks BNKB-1, second-2 banks BNKB-2 which are constituted of the second insulation layer are formed. The second-2 banks BNKB-2 have an inverted-trapezoidal shape and surfaces of the second-2 banks BNKB-2 on sides which face the first bank BNKA have an inverted taper on a substrate side.
