  • Patent number: 5399065
Abstract: In a cascade device for a gas turbine, cooling air which has passed through a trailing air cooling chamber of each stationary blade is discharged from a tip of the stationary blade toward a side surface of a base of a moving blade disposed adjacent to the stationary blade. With this arrangement, the cooling of the stationary blade as well as the sealing of a cascade portion is effected satisfactorily with a smaller amount of the air.

  • Patent number: 5393198
Abstract: A blade for a gas turbine has a leading edge portion which has an arc-shaped cross-section, and a maximum thickness portion of the blade is located within this arc. With this blade configuration, an abrupt acceleration of hot gas at the leading edge portion of the blade is restrained, so that the velocity of the hot gas at the blade surface can be made low. Therefore, the heat transfer coefficient from the hot gas to the blade wall is lowered, so that the amount of cooling air required to be passed through the interior of the blade can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 5108198
Abstract: A sliding bearing an an end ring are mounted on a housing. A magnetic fluid sealing member comprises a permanent magnet and a magnetic fluid. A space is formed between the magnetic fluid sealing member and a lubricating fluid. A shaft has projection member or the end ring forms a spiral groove on an inner peripheral portion. The projection member of the shaft or the spiral groove of the end ring is disposed in an opposite position of the magnetic fluid sealing member. A magnetic fluid flow is disturbed by the projection member of the shaft or the spiral groove of the end ring according to a rotation of the shaft, then a magnetic fluid film is destructed instantaneously and the pressure at the space lowers. Air in the space is discharged from the housing. The scatter degree of the magnetic fluid is made slightly.

  • Patent number: 5100293
Abstract: A cooling structure for a turbine blade. Comprising a hollow-structured main body and a cooling medium discharging device located in the inner cavity of the hollow-structured main body and formed to discharge a cooling medium from the surface thereof, so that the cooling medium discharged from the cooling medium discharging device impinges against the inner surface of the main body to remove the heat from the same. The turbine blade further includes a projection formed on the inner surface of the leading edge of the main body, extending along the spanwise direction of the blade, and the cooling medium discharging device is formed to allow at least part of the cooling medium to directly impinge against proximal portions of the projection. With this arrangement, a turbine blade is provided which allows a small amount of cooling air to cool the turbine blade and its leading edge in particular with great effectiveness.

  • Patent number: 5035519
Abstract: A thrust bearing including a ring-like form plate body, and a plurality of rib members provided on the ring-like form plate body of the thrust bearing. Such a plurality of rib members may be provided on a thrust runner. The rib members cause a difference in load deformation amount in a circumferential direction according to thrust load and generate a wedge-shaped form clearance between a sliding face of the thrust bearing and a sliding face of the thrust runner. Since the wedge-shaped form clearance is formed by utilizing the load deformation, even when the thrust load becomes large, the wedge-shaped form clearance does not become narrow. The occurrence of dynamic pressure by the wedge effect and the formation of a water film can be assured, and the temperature increase between the sliding face of the thrust runner and the sliding face of the thrust bearing can be restrained.
