  • Patent number: 8219643
Abstract: A method of information processing in a server/client system including a server for storing content and a client for receiving from the server and storing copy content of the content stored in the server. The method includes the steps of: the server generating at least either a content-ID list storing content-IDs corresponding to content for which use-expiration-date updating is permitted out of the copy content stored in the client or a content-ID list storing content-IDs corresponding to content for which use-expiration-date updating is not permitted, transmitting the content-ID list to the client; and the client selectively performing update processing of use-expiration date out of the copy content stored in that client or invalidation processing of the copy content stored in that client based on the content-ID list received from the server.

  • Patent number: 7930536
Abstract: In view of the fact that devices connected on a home network are located in home, that is, at close range and therefore a user can physically access the devices within a relatively short period of time, identifying whether or not a home server for distributing the contents and a client terminal using the contents are connected to the same home network based on whether or not they can share access to the same physical medium within a short period of time. The authenticity of devices connected on a home network connected to an external network via a router is authenticated.

  • Patent number: 7805526
Abstract: In view of the connection of a home network to an external network via a home router, using a mechanism that access from the same network is provided with a source MAC address whereas a source address field is rewritten to a MAC address of the router in the case of external access via the router, whether or not access is made from the home network is automatically identified by comparing a MAC address of a device on the other side of communication with a MAC address of the home router. It is capable of suitably managing so that a client terminal uses the contents legitimately acquired on a home server within the scope of private use allowed by the copyright law.

  • Patent number: 7627881
Abstract: A transmitting system for transmitting contents data, meta data, and meta data schema. A meta data schema that represents the structure of meta data of contents data is stored in a meta data schema storing portion. A contents segmenting portion generates segmentation data for selecting a particular segment from successive contents data supplied from a contents storing portion and supplies the generated segmentation data to a meta data combining portion. The meta data combining portion correlates meta data with corresponding segmentation data in a format corresponding to the structure of the meta data schema, combines the meta data with the segmentation data, and outputs the combined data. The meta data schema, meta data with segmentation data, and contents data are converted in a transmission format.

  • Patent number: 7523211
Abstract: An information-processing apparatus, functioning as a content-utilization management server, includes a storage unit for storing a list of member clients, which are each a client having a right to utilize a content, and a data-processing unit for carrying out a process to register a client on the list of member clients to serve as a member client. The data-processing unit carries out a process to register a client on the member-client list to serve as a member client on condition that results of confirmation indicate that a client making a request for registration of the client to serve as a member client is a client in the same local network as the content-utilization management server and indicate that a user of the content-utilization management server has given an approval of the requested registration of the client to serve as a member client.

  • Publication number: 20050229245
Abstract: Providing a function of isolating a home network from an external network for a router or a gateway, which are interposed between the home network and the external network, so as to isolate or disconnect the home network from the external network when, for example, the home server registers a client as a member or provides the contents or issues a license thereof, thereby ensuring a client making a request is present in the local environment. It is possible to manage the contents legitimately acquired on the home server so as to be used by a client terminal within the scope of private use allowed by the copyright law.

  • Publication number: 20050198322
Abstract: In a configuration allowing a client to be designated as a proxy server, the proxy server to register an external client to serve as a member client and the member to utilize a content, a content-utilization management server designates a client as a proxy server whereas the proxy server checks an external client connected to an external network and registers the external client to serve as a member client having a right to utilize a content managed by the content-utilization management server. Then, the proxy server gives a license to the external client as a right to utilize such a content. Thus, the external client not connected to a local network of the content-utilization management server is also capable of utilizing the content based on the license.

  • Publication number: 20050197965
Abstract: An information processing apparatus operating as a content use management server is disclosed. The apparatus includes a storage unit for storing a license as information for granting rights to use content and content attribute information, and a data processing unit for carrying out a content state shifting process in which to shift content usable states. The content usable states are formed by a bound state and a discrete state. The bound state refers to the state in which the content is allowed to be used by any of member clients on a local network of which the content use management server is a part. The discrete state refers to the state in which the content is allowed to be used only by a member client retaining the license for granting rights to use the content. The data processing unit updates descriptive information on the license and the content attribute information stored in the storage unit in order to shift the two content states.

  • Patent number: 4754204
Abstract: Digital apparatus for convergence correction of a plurality of images on the screen of a television monitor includes a digital registration circuit, or an analog registration circuit using a digital attenuator; and a memory for storing data for operation of the digital registration circuit or the digital attenuator of the analog registration circuit. The memory has a plurality of pages, and the correction data corresponding to different operating conditions is stored in the respective pages of the memory. The paging of this memory is performed in accordance with the operating conditions, and the convergence correction is carried out on the basis of the correction data continuously read out of the designated page. With this apparatus, accurate convergence adjustment can be simply performed to accommodate changes in size and/or shape of the image displayed on the screen or monitor, changes in the distance of a projection screen from its projector, and changes in the screen surface, i.e.
