  • Patent number: 6357274
Abstract: A manufacturing method is provided that produces a tubular metallic shell for spark plugs. The metallic shell has a tapered part in the outer periphery to provide a seal. The tapered part can be formed into a desired shape by cold forging operation. A first processed part has a first tapered part with a tapering angle A formed in the first processing step. In the second processing step, the first tapered part is transformed into a second tapered part having a tapering angle B. This is accomplished by utilizing a stepped inner cavity with a second molding die with a tapered bearing surface having a tapering angle B which is greater than the tapering angle A. In the third processing step, the second tapered part is transformed into a third tapered part with a tapering angle C. This is accomplished by utilizing a stepped inner cavity with a third molding die with a tapered bearing surface having a tapering angle C which is smaller than the tapering angle B.

  • Patent number: 5893143
Abstract: Each processing unit 110a to 110d has an individual cache memory 100a to 100d. When the cache memories read an instruction from a main storage 5, an instruction field is distributed to the cache memories. Each cache memory is controlled by a common control circuit 20. A compiler operates to schedule the processes so as to focus the processes to be executed on a specific processing unit. According to the scheduled processes, the volumes of the cache memories 100a to 100d are specified according to each execution ratio of the corresponding processing units to the cache memories. In the foregoing arrangement, a processor provides the processing units controlled by a sole program counter and improves processing by improving the efficiency of the cache memory. Further, the processor improves the efficiency of the cache memory by deleting unnecessary codes.

  • Patent number: 5464288
Abstract: In this linear motion rolling guide unit, the attaching and detaching of underseals to and from a slider can be done easily, and the underseals are housed in the grindstone spaces in a casing and does not project from the lower surface of the slider. Therefore, a height measured from the lower surface of the slider in a track rail-saddling-on state to a lower end of the track rail can be secured sufficiently. End caps have projections provided with locking portions. The projections of the end caps are fitted into insert bores formed in elastic members of the underseals with the locking portions of the projections engaged with edge portions of locking bores in core metal members of the underseals as edge portions of the insert bores are elastically deformed.

  • Patent number: 5380097
Abstract: A lubricating device for a linear motion rolling guide unit which ensures smooth supply of lubricating oil to the upper and lower raceways when the track rail is laid on an inclined or vertical surface of a base. A slider mounted astride the track rail has a casing slidable relative to the track rail and end caps attached to the longitudinal ends of the casing. The end caps are each formed with oil passages, branch oil passages and communication oil passages to supply lubricating oil to the raceways on both sides between the track rail and the casing. Open-close plugs are installed in the branch oil passages. The track rail is formed with communication through-holes that allow the raceways on both sides to communicate with each other. The lubricating oil, after lubricating the upper raceways, flows down the communication through-holes to lubricate the lower raceways.

  • Patent number: 5380096
Abstract: The linear motion rolling guide unit includes a track rail, a casing slidable with respect to the track rail, end caps mounted to the ends of the casing, and flow regulating valves installed in oil grooves formed in the end caps. When the linear motion rolling guide unit is used in an inclined condition with the right side tilted downward, the flow regulating valves may be turned clockwise to limit the flow of lubricating oil to the raceways on the right side. This makes the amounts of oil supplied to the left- and right-side raceways equal even when the linear motion rolling guide unit is used in other than a horizontal attitude, assuring good lubrication.

  • Patent number: 5308164
Abstract: The linear motion rolling guide unit according to this invention has the casing mounted on the track rail so that it can be moved along the track rail. The end caps formed with the recessed arc surfaces for the direction changing passages are attached to the ends of the casing. To form the direction changing passages, the spacers are disposed so that they face and are spaced from the recessed arc surfaces of the end caps. A number of rollers circulate through the raceways formed between the track rail and the casing and through the direction changing passages. The roller-contacting surfaces of the spacers are formed with oil grooves that extend in the direction of roller movement. The oil grooves act as an escape for grease and also hold grease therein, thus reducing the sliding resistance.
