  • Publication number: 20110199642
Abstract: A printing system includes a receive controller that enables by using a user interface unit an input of an instruction during performing of first print processing with a print apparatus, and an operation controller that enables the print apparatus to perform check processing before completion of the first print processing in the case where the instruction is input, the check processing being second print processing by using print data which is used in the first print processing, the operation controller enabling the print apparatus to continue the first print processing after the second print processing.

  • Patent number: 7999963
Abstract: A CPU of an image forming apparatus, such as a color electrophotographic copying apparatus, reads print step information from a memory, such as a USB memory, that stores print image data and print step information relating to a plurality of print steps for producing a print of the print image data and a progress state of the print steps. The CPU updates the progress state of the print steps stored in the memory subsequent to the print step being performed by a printer in the image forming apparatus, displays a next print step to perform based on the read print step information, and controls the printer. The image forming apparatus thus avoids leaks of the print data, and prevents useless printing and erratic job processing. Thus, even an inexperienced operator can provide sophisticated high quality print service using the image forming apparatus.

  • Publication number: 20110164282
Abstract: A printing system capable of increasing the working efficiency of an operator engaged in a post-process necessary after printing can be provided. For this purpose, the user interface unit can execute a display which allows the operator to explicitly input, for each job, instruction information in consideration of a post-process necessary after a printing process in a job requiring a printing process by a printing apparatus in a printing system capable of stacking, on a stacking unit, printed materials having undergone the printing process. When the job to be processed is a job for which the operator inputs the instruction information via the display, printed materials of the job for which the operator inputs the instruction information are stacked on the stacking unit while the printed materials are classified every printed materials on the basis of the instruction information input by the operator for the job.

  • Patent number: 7898680
Abstract: In a system in which a host computer and MFP are connected via a communication medium such as a network or the like, upon transmitting image data stored in a box of the MFP to the host computer, the transmission data size (file size) is displayed before transmission. The user can transmit image data with a desired file size. When the amount of transmission data is large, the load on resources such as a memory, CPU, and the like of a device as a destination of transmission can be reduced.

  • Patent number: 7860425
Abstract: In order to build a convenient printing environment which can meet various needs associated with double-sided printing (e.g., a reduction of the load on the operator) from users upon double-sided printing and can cope with the POD environment, a user request associated with a double-sided printing job to be executed by a printing system which includes a printing apparatus that can execute a double-sided printing operation is accepted from the user via a user interface unit. When the user request accepted via the user interface unit is a specific user request, the printing apparatus is controlled to execute a series of double-sided printing operations using a function of adjusting a printing position of data to be printed on one of first side and second side of a printing medium in the double-sided printing job to be processed.

  • Publication number: 20100315657
Abstract: A control method for controlling a printing system includes selectively executing an inline job and an offline job. The inline job is for executing post-processing on a sheet printed by a printing apparatus by using a post-processing apparatus and the offline job is for executing post-processing on a sheet without executing printing by the printing apparatus by using the post-processing apparatus. The control method also includes restricting execution of the inline job if a sheet has been set in a paper feed unit that is a paper feed source of the offline job to be executed.

  • Publication number: 20100053679
Abstract: A printing system high in flexibility and/or user-friendliness which make it possible to use only post processing by a post-processing unit connected to a printing unit without requiring printing by the printing unit. An execution request receiving unit receives a request for execution of one of an inline job requiring post processing by the sheet processing unit after execution of printing by the printing unit, and an offline job requiring post processing by the sheet processing unit connected to the printing unit, without requiring printing by the printing unit. A controller performs control such that the offline job is executed by the sheet processing unit prior to an inline job associated with an execution request received earlier by the execution request receiving unit than an execution request associated with the offline job.

  • Publication number: 20100002252
Abstract: A print system having a printing apparatus and a post-processing apparatus, and a print control method thereof are capable of executing an inline job requiring printing by the printing apparatus and post-processing by the post-processing apparatus and an offline job that does not include print processing by the printing apparatus but requires post-processing by the post-processing apparatus, and allow a recovery process for carrying out unfinished processing in the inline job when the inline job is interrupted during execution thereof. On the other hand, if the offline job is interrupted, that offline job is canceled and, if there is a job that is unaffected by a cause of the interruption, execution of that job is allowed.
