  • Publication number: 20050169685
Abstract: A classification information setting method for classifying contents into series comprises: a similarity determination step for determining a similarity between first contents classified into a series and second contents unclassified yet; and a classification setting step for setting, in case the similarity exists, classification information related to the first contents, as classification information for the second contents. At the similarity determination step, the similarity is determined by comparing text data contained in the first contents and text data contained in the second contents.

  • Patent number: 6697524
Abstract: An information processing method and apparatus which uses a memory storing stroke data forming one character together with respective stroke order information to display each stroke data based on the stored stroke order information at an arbitrary speed. In addition, a display speed changing instruction is input into the apparatus and the display speed of the stroke data is changed in response to the display speed changing instruction. In addition, stroke data stored in correspondence to the stroke order information of an input stroke order number is read from the memory and displayed. Further, the stroke data can be displayed under different display conditions such that the stroke order information stored in correspondence to the stroke data can be distinguished from each other.

  • Patent number: 6459419
Abstract: The saturation, the lightness, and the hue of each color used in input image data are calculated by a saturation calculation unit, a lightness calculation unit, and a hue calculation unit, respectively. An achromatic color/chromatic color classification unit classifies the color as an achromatic color or a chromatic color on the basis of the calculated saturation. An achromatic color/lightness order assignment unit assigns, on the basis of the lightness of the color classified as an achromatic color, an achromatic color which can be displayed on an LCD to the color classified as an achromatic color. A chromatic color/hue order assignment unit assigns, on the basis of the hue of the color classified as a chromatic color, a chromatic color which can be displayed on the LCD to the color classified as a chromatic color.

  • Patent number: 6326981
Abstract: A color display apparatus, such as a color liquid crystal display apparatus, is composed of a multiplicity of sub-pixels each designed for displaying one of a plurality (k) of mutually different mono-colors and arranged in rows and columns so as to form pixels each with a plurality of mutually adjacent sub-pixels. The sub-pixels and pixels are so arranged that a number n given by dividing a total number of sub-pixels arranged in a row or column with a total number of pixels arranged in the row or column is set to satisfy: 1<n<k, wherein k denotes the plurality of the mono-colors displayed by the sub-pixels. As a result, the pixel pitch can be reduced to provide an increased display density and an improved display quality.

  • Patent number: 6323839
Abstract: A pointed-position detecting apparatus where image output unit visually displays an image, and image input unit inputs the displayed visible image. The input visible image is stored into memory as an original image. The visible image is partially changed by using a manipulation device such as a laser pointer or a pointing rod, and the visible image with the partially-changed area is inputted from the image input unit. Controller extract the changed image area from the input visible image, and detects a pointed position based on the changed image area. Thus, the phenomenon where a user's action with respect to a displayed image is reflected as a change in the image is utilized to detect coordinates and motion at the image area as the object of change.

  • Patent number: 6266611
Abstract: An operation by which an operator can select a desired route on a screen on which a road network is displayed is simplified, and the selected route can be promptly and accurately inputted. The invention is particularly well-suited in instances where the operator wants to manually select a route according to his or her personal preference, for example, where the operator wants to select a main road which he or she knows well or where he or she wants to pass a road that he or she would like to see. For this purpose, on a map displayed on the basis of road data which has previously been stored, the operator instructs a location near the desired route, and by dragging a pen, for example, sequentially selects the roads near the instructed locus, and thus enabling the instructed route to be determined.

  • Patent number: 6249609
Abstract: An image processing apparatus makes it possible to cut off a desired image with a high extraction rate irrespective of whether or not an inputted image has compression hysteresis. With the image processing method therefor, the inputted image data are at first divided into small blocks, and then, frequency transformation is executed. Further, small blocks are detected with respect to those containing character areas. Subsequently, detection is made as to whether or not any non-reversible compression is processed to the frequency transformed image data. In accordance with the result of such detection, data on a table are retrieved to obtain determination threshold values. On the basis of the determination threshold values thus retrieved, the small blocks containing characters are detected for separation.

  • Patent number: 6107994
Abstract: In a character input method and apparatus, data can be input by a simple operation using a displayed keyboard. The keyboard is displayed on the picture surface of a display unit, and data is input by designating a key position on the keyboard. The designated key position is detected based on a designated coordinate position on the keyboard. The corresponding operation is identified based on coordinate positions subsequently input on the keyboard, and a specific key code is generated based on the detected key position and the identified operation.

  • Patent number: 6031634
Abstract: An image information transmitting/receiving apparatus for time and cost-saving repetitive transmission. In facsimile communication, image data where further information is added to previously-transmitted image data is often received. In the present apparatus, the original image data is stored, and only difference data from the original image data is transmitted, thus the whole image can be reproduced at the receiving side, using the received difference data. Upon transmitting the difference image information, identification information identifying the difference image information is added to the difference information, and the entire image data to be received by the receiving side is stored. Upon receiving the difference image information, the received difference information is combined with the stored image data, and an image is reproduced based on the combined image data. Further, the image data used for image reproduction is stored as original image data for the next transmission.
