  • Patent number: 9209659
Abstract: An armature for a rotating electric machine includes an armature core and an armature coil. The armature core includes a substantially annular main body disposed in radial opposition to a field of the machine and teeth extending from the main body radially toward the field. The armature coil is arranged between the teeth of the armature core. For each of the teeth, there are formed a protrusion and a pair of claws at a distal end of the tooth. The protrusion protrudes from a circumferentially central part of the distal end of the tooth radially toward the field. The claws extend, respectively on opposite circumferential sides of the protrusion, from the distal end of the tooth toward the field. Each of the claws has a smaller width at its distal end than at its proximal end and is arcuate-shaped so as to engage with and thereby retain the armature coil.

  • Publication number: 20150022052
Abstract: A stator includes a hollow cylindrical stator core, a stator coil and an outer cylinder. The stator core is comprised of a plurality of core segments that are arranged in a circumferential direction of the stator core to adjoin one another in the circumferential direction. The stator coil is mounted on the stator core. The outer cylinder is fitted on a radially outer periphery of the stator core. The outer cylinder has, at least, a protruding portion and a non-protruding portion. The protruding portion protrudes radially inward to include an abutting part that abuts the radially outer periphery of the stator core. The non-protruding portion extends, without protruding radially inward, to define a radial clearance between the radially outer periphery of the stator core and a radially inner surface of the non-protruding portion. The protruding and non-protruding portions are continuously formed in an axial direction of the outer cylinder.

  • Patent number: 8429947
Abstract: An electric wire shaping apparatus includes a pair of male and female shaping dies and a pressing mechanism. Each of the male and female shaping dies has a shaping surface that includes a plurality of straight parts and a plurality of bent parts. The pressing mechanism moves one of the male and female shaping dies toward the other, thereby pressing a turn portion of an electric wire between the shaping surfaces of the male and female shaping dies in a width-wise direction of the turn portion. Furthermore, the male and female shaping dies are so configured that when they are located closest to each other, a gap W2 between a corresponding pair of the bent parts of the shaping surfaces of the male and female shaping dies is different in size from a gap W1 between a corresponding pair of the straight parts of the shaping surfaces.

  • Patent number: 8256094
Abstract: A method is provided for shaping an electric wire for a stator coil of an electric rotating machine. The electric wire to be shaped includes a plurality of straight portions and a plurality of turn portions. Each of the turn portions includes a specific part and all of the specific parts of the turn portions are identical to each other. The method includes clamping the specific part of one of the turn portions of the electric wire in a width-wise direction thereof, holding two different sections of the specific part in a thickness-wise direction thereof, and moving one of the first and second holders relative to the other in the thickness-wise direction of the specific part, thereby shaping the specific part to form a crank-shaped portion therein.

  • Publication number: 20100252139
Abstract: An electric wire shaping apparatus is disclosed for shaping an electric wire for a stator coil. The electric wire includes a turn portion that is to be located outside of slots of a stator core and a pair of straight portions that are connected by the turn portion and to be respectively received in two of the slots. The interval between the straight portions defines a coil pitch. The apparatus includes a shaping mechanism and a pair of coil pitch keeping mechanisms. The shaping mechanism presses the turn portion of the electric wire in its width-wise direction, thereby shaping the turn portion to have a desired shape. The coil pitch keeping mechanisms respectively press the straight portions of the electric wire toward the inside space between the straight portions, thereby preventing the interval between the straight portions from being changed by the pressing of the turn portion.

  • Publication number: 20100244617
Abstract: A stator for an electric rotating machine includes a hollow cylindrical stator core and a stator coil made up of a plurality of electric wires mounted on the stator core. The stator core has a plurality of slots that are formed in a radially inner surface of the stator core and spaced at predetermined intervals in the circumferential direction of the stator core. The stator core also has a plurality of tooth portions each of which is formed to radially extend between one circumferentially-adjacent pair of the slots. Moreover, the stator core further has a plurality of displacement restricting portions each of which is formed, as an integral part of the stator core, on an axial end face of a corresponding one of the tooth portions of the stator core to restrict displacement of the stator coil relative to the stator core.
