  • Patent number: 6393206
Abstract: A recordable optical disc stores one or more video objects. A video stream, a first audio stream, and a second audio stream which is used for dubbing are multiplexed into each video object. Also, an optical disc recording apparatus generates the second audio stream by an audio stream generating device, and multiplexes the generated second audio stream into each video object together with the video object and the first audio stream by a multiplexor. The generated video objects are recorded onto the recordable optical disc by a recording device. The optical disc in which such video objects are stored facilitates dubbing.

  • Patent number: 6385394
Abstract: An information recording medium suitable for optical discs such as DVD-RAM is provided for integrated management of data as objects in different kinds of AV formats. Also apparatus is provided for data recording and playing to the medium. The medium stores management information including program chain information (PGC information) defining the playback order of the objects, and object information containing information relevant to the objects. The object information has general information of the object, attribute information and a map associating a playback time point of the object with an address on the optical disc of a component of the object to be played. The PGC information has cell information including information about type of object, identification information. The order of the cell information in the PGC information corresponds to the order in which the objects are played back.

  • Patent number: 6377747
Abstract: Optical discs formatted to record plural audio streams of different content for reproduction with a single video stream can result in audio output of content unexpected by the user depending upon the audio stream configuration contained in the AV stream reproduced. This can confuse and cause the user to change the audio output after reproduction starts. To prevent this, information indicating the type of audio stream configuration contained in each AV stream on the optical disc is stored with each audio stream. This audio stream type information is presented to the user on the same screen from which an AV program is selected for playback. The user can thus know before playback starts what audio stream channel is preselected for playback, and can change the audio channel as desired before playback starts.

  • Patent number: 6366732
Abstract: A multimedia optical disk is provided. The multimedia optical disk includes a data area for storing objects which include moving picture data and at least one of audio data and sub-picture data. The multimedia optical disk also includes an index area for storing reproduction orders of the objects. Route information in the index area includes a sequence of addresses of objects whose alignment represents a reproduction order. Chain control information in the index area corresponds to the route information. The chain control information, being effective in reproducing objects specified by the alignment of the sequence of addresses (objects specified by the alignment of the sequence of addresses are called a chain), instructs the reproduction apparatus to have a navigation control of the chain. A piece of moving picture data having a certain time period is reproduced at the same timing as a piece of audio data and a piece of sub-picture data.

  • Publication number: 20020031336
Abstract: An optical disk for recording more than one system stream containing audio data and video data. The audio data and video data of the plural system streams are recorded to the optical disk, and are interleaved such that the difference between the input start times of the video data and audio data to the video buffer in the video decoder and the audio buffer in the audio decoder is less than the reproduction time of the number of audio frames that can be stored in the audio buffer plus one audio frame.

  • Publication number: 20020018643
Abstract: An information recording medium stores information transmitted as a transport stream as objects. The management information written to the information recording medium includes object information for managing the recorded objects. The object information includes an access map. The access map manages the MPEG transport stream in block units, each block containing an integer multiple number of ECC blocks. In addition to the specific information for accessing the blocks, the access map also includes an I-picture Included Flag indicating whether each block includes I-picture data. It is therefore possible to randomly access the transport stream, which otherwise lacks random accessibility to the middle of the stream.

  • Patent number: 6347187
Abstract: An optical disc including: a data area storing one or more video objects; and a time map area storing time map information. Each video object includes a plurality of video object units. The time map information includes a first time table and a second time table for each video object. Each first time table includes: addresses of video object units in a corresponding video object; and indicators. The addresses are arranged in order and indicate storage positions of the video object units that correspond to reproduction points that differ by a predetermined time unit. The predetermined time unit is longer than a maximum reproduction period of a video object unit. The indicators specify the video object units which respectively correspond to the addresses. Each second time table includes an entry for each video object unit in the corresponding video object. The entries are arranged in order. Each second time table includes a reproduction period and a data size of each video object unit.
