  • Publication number: 20050039603
Abstract: There is prevented reduction in volume of a chamber, by which an activated charcoal layer for a canister is divided into sections. [MEANS TO SOLVE THE SUBJECT] In a canister, an activated charcoal layer is placed in a fluid passage by which an air intake port is connected to a charge port or purge port, and a chamber dividing the charcoal layer into sections so as to traverse the fuel passage is defined by a grid and a filter pad placed on the surface of the grid. The grid has apertures uniformly formed on the surface of the grid contacting with the filter pad, so as to communicate with the chamber. Formation of the apertures on the surface of the grid prevents the filter pad from coming into the mesh of the grid, thus maintaining flatness of the filter pad. The original volume of the chamber can be maintained, so as to enable the fuel from the fuel tank to be absorbed effectively by the first and second layers of the charcoal layer, thus preventing the fuel from being released into the air.

  • Patent number: 6197391
Abstract: There is disclosed a pyrolytic boron nitride container for accommodating a material serving as a source of molecular beams for molecular beam epitaxy, wherein the transmissivity of the pyrolytic boron nitride container with respect to light having a wave number of 2600 cm−1 to 6500 cm−1 has a profile such that the transmissivity changes in the height direction of the container. The pyrolytic boron nitride container can be manufactured through a simple process and at low cost. The pyrolytic boron nitride container can prevent material melt from rising along the inner wall surface and prevent splashed material melt from adhering to the upper portion of the container. Further, the pyrolytic boron nitride container can stabilize molecular beam epitaxial growth and improve the quality of epitaxial film.

  • Patent number: 5821662
Abstract: A brush holder is held between a yoke of a starter motor and an end frame made of resin. The brush holder has an engaging guide portion projecting axially therefrom and engaging the yoke and the end frame and a projected peripheral portion projecting outside from peripheral surfaces of the yoke and that of the end frame. The brush holder contacts the yoke and the end frame at cylindrical surfaces thereof and surfaces perpendicular to the cylindrical surfaces. This construction allows the brush holder to be prevented from loosening, thus improving the vibration proof and durability of the brush holder. Further, the brush holder contacts the yoke and the end frame at the cylindrical surfaces thereof and the surfaces perpendicular to the cylindrical surfaces, thus dissipating the heat of a brush through the brush holder and the yoke more efficiently.

  • Patent number: 5789821
Abstract: A starter which reduces the number of parts for a pinion rotation regulation and provides an accurate magnet switch operation. A concave portion is formed on the bottom side of a plunger to store a spherical body set on the rear end of a cord-shaped member, e.g., wire. A male screw and a fixing are used so that the length of the cord-shaped member is adjusted thereby. The length of the string-shaped member is adjusted so that the claw of the pinion rotation regulating member fits into the notch on the outer circumference of a pinion gear. Furthermore, the claw is fit into the notch via the wire when the plunger moves. The cord-shaped member may be replaced by a rod member disposed radially inside or outside the yoke.

  • Patent number: 5762865
Abstract: A pyrolytic boron nitride crucible is disclosed which is suitable for producing a single crystal of a semiconductor compound of Group III and V by the LEC method. The crucible comprises a side part and a bottom part. The bottom part has an absorption coefficient of light of wavelengths between 3,700 cm.sup.-1 and 6,500 cm.sup.-1 of at most 1.7 and/or the absorption coefficient of light of wavelengths between 3,700 cm.sup.-1 to 6,500 cm.sup.-1 of the bottom part is less than that of the side part by at least 0.5. In the crucible, the heat conduction from the bottom part to material melt in the crucible is strengthened, so that the convection flow of the material melt is suppressed and the temperature distribution in the crucible can be easily controlled.

  • Patent number: 5675885
Abstract: An automated method for winding a coil of an electroacoustic transducer utilizes a support member that has a frusto-conical projection for receiving an outer pole tip. The frusto-conical configuration assures that, upon completion of a coil winding about the pole, there is an exposed recess around the periphery of the pole tip. This is accompanied by an end surface of the winding being coplanar with the corresponding end surface of the pole tip. Maximized performance for the transducer may then be realized.

  • Patent number: 5642333
Abstract: The present invention provides an electroacoustic transducer which can increase the winding efficiency of a coil on a pole and allows the automation of a coil winding process. The present invention relates to an electroacoustic transducer for vibrating a diaphragm by a magnetic field generated in response to an inputted electric signal to convert the electric signal into sound. The coil is wound around the pole along its entire length. However, at the pole tip, the coil is formed to have an outwardly diverging, frusto-conical recess that exposes the pole tip.

  • Patent number: 5606484
Abstract: A novel ceramic electrostatic chuck with built-in heater is proposed which is outstandingly durable in use with repeated cycles of heating and cooling because of the absence of troubles due to exfoliation of layers and crack formation in the ceramic body. Differently from conventional ceramic electrostatic chuck with built-in heater consisting of a base plate of sintered body of boron nitride, layers of pyrolytic graphite formed on the surfaces of the base plate to serve, one, as the electrode layer and, the other, as the heater element, and an insulating layer of pyrolytic boron nitride formed on the pyrolytic graphite layers, the base plate in the invention is made of a composite sintered body of a powder mixture of aluminum and boron nitrides in a specified mixing proportion so as to minimize the difference in the thermal expansion coefficient from those of the overlaying layers.
