  • Patent number: 10062018
Abstract: A print control system that controls a printing apparatus having a paper feed unit, the system includes one or more processors operating, to determine whether printing using print data can be performed, based on first paper information included in a print setting in the print data, second paper information that is set in the printing apparatus, and printability information indicating a printable combination of the first paper information included in the print setting and the second paper information set in the printing apparatus. The first paper information included in the print setting and the second paper information set in the printing apparatus each includes both of (i) information regarding a type of paper and (ii) information regarding a size of paper. The printing is controlled using the print data, based on a result of the determination.

  • Patent number: 8995013
Abstract: A UI driver determines an output region corresponding to an output paper size in a display region of the printer driver UI, and if a length of at least one side of the output region is longer than a corresponding side of an original image, performs cropping of the original image such that a removed portion of a distribution region of a main object in the original image is at the minimum after enlarging the original image, and if a length of each side of the output region is shorter than or equal to a corresponding side of the original image and not longer than a corresponding side of the distribution region of the main object, performs cropping of the original image such that a removed portion of the distribution region of the main object is at the minimum after reducing the original image.

  • Patent number: 8102546
Abstract: An apparatus determines a type of a printing paper which is fed from a paper feed port of a printer. If it is determined that a print setting of a print target page does not match the type of printing paper fed from the paper feed port, the apparatus requests the printer to eject the printing paper set in the paper feed port and sends data of a print target page if a print setting of a print target page matches a type of a printing paper fed from the paper feed port after the printer has executed a paper ejection, or alternatively, the apparatus stores information about the print target page and determines whether a print setting of a page to be sent subsequent to the print target page in the print data matches the type of a printing paper fed from the paper feed port.

  • Patent number: 8016401
Abstract: An appropriate maintenance such as appropriate registration adjustment can be executed even if a status for the maintenance cannot be acquired from a printing apparatus. Specifically, if a status cannot be acquired from the printer, a printer driver refers to a history of number of past instructions for registration adjustment stored in a host computer to determine whether simplified registration adjustment or detailed registration adjustment is to be executed. If the printer driver does not detect any record of executed registration adjustment, that is, if the printer driver detects that no registration adjustment has been executed, then it determines that the simplified registration adjustment is to be executed. If the printer driver detects any record of executed registration adjustment, it determines that the detailed registration adjustment is to be executed. Thus, the invention enables the correct guidance and the corresponding appropriate registration adjustment even if the status cannot be acquired.

  • Patent number: 7916325
Abstract: This invention provides appropriate information of the next action or operation to be taken by the user on the basis of the property of a print job and status sent from a printer when paper-out information is sent from the printer while the print job is output to the printer having a plurality of paper supplying ports. To this end, it is monitored whether or not a paper-out message is received during output of a print job to the printer having the plurality of paper supplying ports. If a paper-out state has occurred, when the user has explicitly designated one paper supplying port, it is determined that the paper supplying port cannot be switched, and information that prompts the user to re-set paper sheets is displayed. On the other hand, when the user has not explicitly designated any paper supplying port, information indicating that another paper supplying port is selectable is displayed.

  • Patent number: 7584242
Abstract: The printing system of the present invention enables the display of information to an operator indicating that printing has been halted even when it is the host computer that causes the halt in printing. When a print data preview is set, a print processor reads print data from a spool file, generates a preview image using a printer graphics driver and provides that preview image to a previewer. A status monitor then monitors and displays the status of a printer and the print processor.
