  • Publication number: 20040209080
Abstract: A granular form of nonionic cellulose ether is prepared by adding dropwise or spraying an aqueous solution of wetter to a nonionic cellulose ether powder while fluidizing the powder, for thereby granulating, and drying. Granulation is accomplished without grinding. The granulated nonionic cellulose ether has the advantages of quick dissolution in water and minimized dusting.

  • Publication number: 20040169298
Abstract: Provided are a microcapsule and a production method thereof using a low-toxicity polymer substrate which can be produced regardless of a core material's water or oil solubility, without using gelatin or an organic solvent viewed as having a problem with safety. Specifically, provided is a microcapsule comprising oil-based core material which is immiscible with water; and shell material which comprises gum arabic and an enteric anionic cellulose derivative. Also provided is a method for producing a microcapsule comprising steps of suspending an oil-based water-immiscible core material in an aqueous solution of gum arabic, and then adding an aqueous alkaline solution of an enteric anionic cellulose derivative.

  • Patent number: 6767596
Abstract: The present invention provides transparent film sheets for use in projection by an OHP which can be used both in dry copying and in the ink-jet printing of characters and/or pictures, can be directly printed with a jet printing ink without the intervention of a layer receptive to the jet printing ink, can be disposed of in a state capable of maintaining secrecy after use without the necessity of being shredded, and can be disposed of as a class of recycling waste like common white paper. Specifically, the present invention provides transparent film sheets formed of a cellulose ether derived from cellulose which is the basic component of common paper.

  • Publication number: 20040138062
Abstract: The present invention is to solve the problems caused by a conventional method for producing a zinc chloride-loaded support wherein zinc chloride is adsorbed on a solid support in an aqueous solution of zinc chloride. The problems include environmental destruction caused by the treatment of a used aqueous solution of zinc chloride, corrosion to a reactor, a threat to health for workers, deterioration of zinc chloride due to deliquescence thereof, and reduction of specific surface area.

  • Publication number: 20040137253
Abstract: In a paper/film composite structure, the film is made of a low substituted cellulose ether having a molar degree of substitution with alkyl and/or hydroxyalkyl groups in the range of 0.05 to 1.3. The paper/film composite structure can be delivered to the waste paper recycling process without previously removing the film portion. The strength of film is increased without adding to the manufacturing cost. The paper/film composite structure is inexpensive and eliminates the risk of film rupture during the working, transporting and use stages.

  • Publication number: 20030236398
Abstract: A water-soluble cellulose ether is selected by judging whether the number of undissolved fibers having a size of 16-200 &mgr;m is up to 350 fibers/2 ml in a 0.1 wt % aqueous solution of the cellulose ether at 25° C. This water-soluble cellulose ether forms an aqueous solution which can be filtered without clogging and can form a very thin film without defectives.

  • Publication number: 20030038183
Abstract: Provided is an enteric coating technique capable of carrying out enteric coating without using an organic solvent and without causing a spray gun to clog, while keeping a equipment cost low. More specifically, from a spray gun comprising a nozzle for spraying an enteric polymer dispersion and/or solution and a nozzle for spraying a plasticizer solution, these solutions are sprayed simultaneously and separately through the nozzles. A mixture of these solutions thus obtained during spraying is applied to a preparation.

  • Publication number: 20020038633
Abstract: A cellulose ether having a viscosity of at least 80,000 mPa·s, as measured in a 2 wt % aqueous solution thereof at 20° C. by Ubbelohde's viscometer No. 5 according to JIS K2283-1993 is useful as a binder in the preparation of pet waste-absorbing granular material. The pet waste-absorbing granules effectively gather into clumps upon contact with pet urine, are economical because of a reduced weight per urination of granules gathered into clumps to be removed, and are combustible or disposable by flushing in the toilet.

  • Patent number: 5047086
Abstract: A cement composition for extrusion which is produced by incorporating, into cement mortar, 3 to 15 weight % of crushed pulp fiber, 0.2 to 1 weight % of at least one member selected from an alkylcellulose and a hydroxyalkylalkyllcellulose, and a 2% water solution having a viscosity of 80,000 cps or more allows for reduced production costs by reducing the loads of the binder material using a pulp fiber without carcinogenicitic asbestos fiber. Furthermore, it allows for excellent extrudability and provides the moldings with workability such as nailing and sawing.
