Abstract: An information processing device and method enable swift extraction of a user's preference. The relevant item evaluation value of the preference is increased based on characteristic information about a moving image content whose replay has been directed, based on characteristic information about a still image content whose replay has been directed, based on characteristic information about a sound content whose replay has been directed, based on information about an executed game content, and based on information about a used network content. The relevant item evaluation value of the preference is decreased based on characteristic information about a deleted content. The invention is applicable to video recorders.

Abstract: The present invention provides a recording apparatus for recording a broadcast program to be received including a data input unit, an article information analyzing unit, and a recording control unit. The data input unit acquires article information concerning a broadcast program and with an article identifier set to the information. The article information analyzing unit generates a recording reservation list with an article identifier for the article information set as registered information, stores the recording reservation list in a storage unit, inputs a broadcasting date and time information related to an article identifier set in the recording reservation list into the data input unit, and registers the acquired broadcasting date and time information stored in the storage unit. The recording control unit executes recording based on the broadcasting date and time information set in the recording reservation list stored in the storage unit.

Abstract: A user interface controlling apparatus is disclosed which includes an inputting section for inputting user operation information, and a display controlling section for controlling display of data in a switched manner on a display unit based on input information from the inputting section. The display controlling section exercises control, based on the input information coming from the inputting section designating any of upward-, downward-, rightward-, and leftward-pointing buttons, over selection of a data aggregate to be displayed from data aggregates including different categories of data, and over selection of category data for display from the selected data aggregate, before outputting the selected category data to the display unit.

Abstract: According to the present invention, there is provided an information processing apparatus including a data input section for inputting article management information including article information relating to a broadcast program and having an article identifier and a program identifier for a program relating to the article, a storage section for storing therein said article management information, a data collecting section for acquiring article management information stored in said storage section and generating collecting data with program-related articles classified by program unit based on program identifiers, and a display control section for controlling to generate display data enabling recognition of programs having many related articles based on the collecting data generated by said data collecting section and display the display data on a display section.
