Abstract: A photothermographic image forming element contains a non-photosensitive silver salt which has been formed by simultaneously adding and mixing previously prepared solutions of silver nitrate and an organic acid alkali metal salt. A photosensitive layer containing a photosensitive silver halide or a layer disposed adjacent thereto or both contain a nucleating agent. The element produces a low fog, high contrast image.

Abstract: A photothermographic material for a photomechanical process which is high in sensitivity and high in contrast and can provide an image low in Dmin by UV light, comprising a support having provided thereon a light-insensitive organic silver salt, a light-sensitive silver halide formed independently of the light-insensitive organic silver salt, and a binder, wherein the main binder of an image formation layer containing the light-sensitive silver halide is a polymer latex having a glass transition-temperature of 40.degree. C. or less, said image formation layer is formed by applying a coating solution in which 60% by weight or more of a solvent is water, and the light-sensitive silver halide is gold-sensitized silver halide grains having a silver chloride content of 80 mol % or more per silver halide.

Abstract: Disclosed is a silver halide photographic material and forming an image using the same, containing a hydrazine derivative in the emulsion layer(s) or in other hydrophilic colloid layer(s). At least one silver halide emulsion comprises silver halide grains containing (a) from 1.times.10.sup.-8 to 1.times.10.sup.-6 mol, per mol of silver, of an iridium compound, and (b) from 1.times.10.sup.-8 to 1.times.10.sup.-6 mol, per mol of silver, of a rhodium compound or from 1.times.10.sup.-9 to 1.times.10.sup.-5 mol, per mol of silver, of a rhenium compound, ruthenium compound or osmium compound, and having a silver chloride content of 50 mol % or more, the emulsion having been color-sensitized with a sensitizing dye of the following general formulae (1), (2) or (3): ##STR1## The material may be processed with a stable developer to give a hard image having few "black peppers".
