  • Patent number: 7106751
Abstract: A linking apparatus receives a first packet from a first network. When the first packet does not include a first header, a receiving section of the linking apparatus reads out a first header, which is stored after being associated with packet identification information having the same value as for packet identification information included in the first packet, from the stored first headers to output the first packet to which the first header is added. A sending section converts the first packet to a second packet to send the second packet to a second network.

  • Patent number: 7046624
Abstract: A network apparatus according to the present invention is connected to a single server apparatus or a plurality of server apparatus via a link. The network administrator sets in advance the band volume to be used by a frame transmitted from each of the server apparatus within the range of the communication band volume possessed by the link. The network apparatus has a band controller that instructs each of the server apparatus to transmit a PAUSE frame. The network apparatus is also provided with a transmitter that transmits a PAUSE frame to each of the server apparatus via the link according to the instruction of the band controller. Each of the server apparatus receives the PAUSE frame transmitted from the network apparatus. Each of the server apparatus suspends frame transmission to the network apparatus for the suspension period set in the received PAUSE frame.

  • Patent number: 6985496
Abstract: The present invention provides techniques to increase the efficiency of communication between computer systems. One embodiment of the present invention provides a method for communicating a first information item having a first data length of a plurality of data lengths, from a first device to a second device via a local area network. The first data length is determined based on a first data length restriction of the second device. Another embodiment enables a high-speed transfer of a large volume of data on a server to another server, without stopping the communication between the server and a client. This embodiment uses the limitation on data length of the destination system to limit the length of the data sent by the source system. In addition while standard length data is exchanged between client and server, extended length data is exchanged between servers.

  • Patent number: 6977885
Abstract: According to the present invention, an information network wherein, packets can be forwarded between entities on a network along a plurality of lines, each line carrying separate copies of information. If a portion of one copy of the information is lost due to line failure, for example, other copies flowing along different lines can be used to reconstruct the lost information. In a representative embodiment, a plurality of LAN lines respectively connect between terminals and LAN-to-LAN forwarding devices or between two LAN-to-LAN forwarding devices. The terminals or the LAN-to-LAN forwarding devices are respectively provided with multiple line transmitting units for respectively transmitting the same packets to the plurality of LAN lines substantially contemporaneously. There are also provided multiple line receiving units for respectively selecting any of the same packets sent from the plurality of LAN lines and receiving it.

  • Publication number: 20020016874
Abstract: An information network 200 extends between a first information relaying apparatus 20 and a terminal 23, which are equipped with existing circuit multiplexing modules 39. Signals from the information relaying apparatus 20 pass through additional information relaying apparatuses 21, 22, which relay signals output from the information relaying apparatus 20. The information relaying apparatuses 21, 22 associate LAN lines between the information relaying apparatus 20 and the terminal 23 into separate groups and effectively monitor these LAN lines. If a failure is detected, then all LAN lines belonging to the group of the LAN line experiencing the failure are effectively shut down. As a result, circuit multiplexers 39 in the information relaying apparatus 20 are then instructed to use a different LAN line that is not experiencing failure so that communication can continue.

  • Patent number: 6304916
Abstract: An end node for which sending and receiving are controlled by a hub is directly connected and used. When another end node is directly connected to the PMD control unit 2, the input control signal processor 11 of the signal processor 1 receives a receiving state signal indicating the state of a tone signal which is outputted from the PMD control unit 2 and received from another end node, converts it to a receiving state signal indicating the state of a tone signal from the hub which has the same meaning as it, and transfers it to the MAC/PMI control unit 4.
