Abstract: An image processing apparatus comprises: an image reading portion which has a box-shaped first housing with a reading surface, and a scanning device displaceable along the reading surface in the first housing, and reads a first image on a document by relatively displacing the document and scanning device; and an image recording portion which includes a recording medium supply device accommodating a recording medium, a feeding mechanism feeding the recording medium fed out of the supply device, a recording device recording a second image on the recording medium, and a second housing incorporating at least the feeding mechanism and recording device. The apparatus is placed on a rest surface in a substantially upright position, and the reading portion is changeable in position between an upright position in which the reading surface is opposed to the recording portion, and a horizontal position in which the reading surface faces upward.

Abstract: There is provided an information processing system, which comprises a printing unit, a link information print control unit configured such that when first contents which has a first address and contains an object to which a second address is assigned as a link target address are printed, it causes the printing unit to print link information indicating that the first address is a link source address and the second address is the link target address, a link information obtaining unit configured to obtain the link information printed by the printing unit, a second content access unit configured to access second contents to which the second address is assigned in accordance with the link information, and a link source address notification unit configured to notify the link target address of information on the first address in response to execution of access by the second content access unit.

Abstract: An imaging device is configured to operable in a normal print mode and in an economical print mode. The imaging device includes an image storage, a cost calculating system that calculates a normal print cost representing a cost when the image is printed in the normal print mode, an upper limit setting system that sets an upper limit of the print cost. Further provided is an adjustment parameter determining system that determines an adjustment parameter representative of reduced quantity of consumable substances when the image data is printed. The adjustment parameter is calculated based on the upper limit and the normal print cost such that a print cost is suppressed below the upper limit if the image data stored in the image storage is printed in accordance with the adjustment parameter. A printing system is provided to print the image in accordance with the adjustment parameter.

When the user performs an operation designating discard of the FAX image (i.e. when a discard command button is pressed by the user), the FAX image is discarded. Since the user can decide whether or not to register the FAX image in the database after checking the image to be registered, registration of undesired image in the database can be prevented.

Abstract: A facsimile device includes an outer case accommodating a circuit controller and a communication module. The communication module has a router function and can be directly connected to a broadband-capable modem, such as an ADSL modem, by a cable. The communication module can perform bi-directional communications with a web server on the Internet via the broadband-capable modem. The communication module also has a web printing function for printing images of data received from a web server on a recording unit. Hence, by connecting a broadband-capable modem to the communication module, the facsimile device can print data from web servers onto paper to facilitate viewing.
