    Abstract: A printing device includes: a substrate feed-out section; a substrate transport section; a storage which stores the width size of the substrate; a skew correction section including a skew sensor which detects the skew of the substrate, and adapted to correct the skew of the substrate with reference to an output of the skew sensor and the substrate width size stored in the storage; an image recording section which performs an image recording operation on the substrate; a first sensor which detects a width size-changed portion of the substrate upstream of the skew correction section with respect to the transport direction; and a controller. Upon the detection of the width size-changed portion, the controller stops the substrate skew correction while continuously transporting the substrate. After the width size-changed portion of the substrate reaches a reference position downstream of the skew correction section, the controller restarts the skew correction.

The controller includes a contact-start-position identifier, an inappropriate-printing-area setter, and a print controller. The contact-start-position identifier identifies a contact start position of the base material in which the coating roller and the base material start to come in contact with each other. The inappropriate-printing-area setter sets, as the inappropriate printing area, an area of the base material that has a predetermined length in a transport direction from the contact start position. The print controller stops the printing device from performing printing on the inappropriate printing area.

The path/compression-rate setting circuit, based on each data amount of the image signals received, determines a communication path for transmitting a part or the whole of each of the image signal, and sets a common compression rate for all of the plurality of compression circuits. The path/compression-rate setting circuit divides an image signal having a relatively large data amount, and assigns a part of the divided image signal to a communication path for transmitting an image signal having a relatively small data amount.
