  • Patent number: 9149900
Abstract: According to the machine tool according to the present invention, a top-bottom guide is attached to a back surface of a base frame. By being guided by this top-bottom guide, the lifter moves in the top-bottom direction with respect to the base frame. A drive source which drives rotation of a top-bottom feed screw which extends parallel to the top-bottom guide is attached to a back surface of the base frame. This drive source is coupled with a bottom end of the top-bottom feed screw. As a result, compared to when the drive source is coupled with a top end of the top-bottom feed screw, the center of gravity of the machine tool can be set to a lower position. In this way, a machine tool can be increased in stability.

  • Patent number: 9126298
Abstract: A machining center includes a rotatable tool magazine (22) arranged above a work space (WS) facing a spindle (15) tilted so that the spindle side becomes lower and having a plurality of grippers (24) for holding tools (16) in a circumferential direction, and a shutter (26) arranged below the tool magazine (22) to be able to open and close facing the spindle side. The tool magazine (22) has a tool-free area (AR2) where there are no grippers (24) at a part of the circumferential direction and a tool-holding area (ARA) where there are grippers (24) at another part of the circumferential direction. The tool magazine (22) is controlled in rotation so that when the shutter (26) is closed, the tool-free area (AR2) moves to the spindle side while when the shutter (26) is open, the tool-holding area (AR1) moves to the spindle side.

  • Patent number: 8672593
Abstract: A cooling method and cooling apparatus which can reduce thermal deformation of a mobile body of a machine tool is provided. On the front of a column (1), a pair of upper and lower guides (3) is formed, and saddle (7) is suspended on guides (3), saddle (7) being movable left and right. Guiding surface (5) of guide (3) and sliding surface (9) of saddle (7) are slip surface and are in contact with each other. Sliding surfaces (9a, 9b, 9d, 9e) which generate a large amount of heat and need to be cooled are identified in advance by simulation. Fluid pipelines (25) for cooling the identified portions generating higher heat are formed, and a coolant liquid is circulated by being passed from portion (9a) generating less heat toward portion (9e) generating higher heat.

  • Publication number: 20130277169
Abstract: During operation of a machine tool (10), an operator can visually check a machining region (39) inside of a splash guard (11) from monitoring windows (22, 23). At this time, if it is found that the front end of a tool (20) is chipped etc., the operator can press the emergency stop switch (25) so as to make the operation of the machine tool (10) stop on an emergency basis. This emergency stop switch (25) is arranged on a chamfered surface (17) which is formed between the front panel (12) and the right side panel (13a). As a result, the operator can simply see the emergency stop button (25) from either the front side of the front panel (12) or the front side of the right side panel (13a). The visibility of the emergency stop switch (25) is improved. Further, it is sufficient to arrange a single emergency stop switch (25) at the chamfered surface (17), so the structure of the machine tool (10) is simplified.
