    Abstract: A parallel computer includes a plurality of processors arranged in a taurus mesh network, with each processor having a local memory, and a plurality of secondary storage units. The network is coupled to a host computer via a host interface. Interleave system information corresponding to the size of portions of a file to be divided and stored in the plurality of secondary storage units is also stored in the local memory of a processor. When the processor accesses the file, the interleave system information of the file in the processor local memory is referenced by the processor and the processor outputs a file transfer request in accordance with the interleave system information.

    Abstract: A dot-matrix display apparatus includes an address conversion/switch circuit which converts a system address of 16 bits outputted from a CPU into a write address in a manner that a most significant bit of the system address becomes a least significant bit of the write address and remaining bits of the system address are shifted upward one by one bit so as to become remaining bits of the write address. The upper 8 bits of the write address becomes a Y address for designating a row of a VRAM and the lower 8 bits of the write address becomes an X address for designating a column of the VRAM. Display data are written in the VRAM in a manner that display data for an upper half of a screen of an LCD and display data for a lower half thereof are in a row one after the other.

    Abstract: A general-purpose electromagnetic wave shielding interior material having an excellent electromagnetic wave shielding property as well as a good interior finishing property is disclosed. A protective film made of resin is stuck onto one side surface of an electromagnetic wave shielding metal foil, and an incombustible paper sheet is stuck onto the other side surface of the same electromagnetic wave shielding foil to form a laminated sheet having the desired properties. Preferably, the electromagnetic wave shielding metal foil is exposed from the peripheral edge portion of the laminated sheet, and an overlapping margin is reserved at the peripheral edge portion of the laminated sheet.

    Abstract: A novel method for joining edge portions of electromagnetic wave shielding members is proposed. A joiner is prepared by solder-plating a surface of a narrow strip of electromagnetic wave shielding material of a metal foil or a metal sheet. The respective edge portions of adjacent electromagnetic wave shielding members made of metal sheets or metal foils are butted against each other. The solder-plated surface of the prepared joiner is superposed on the respective abutting edge portions of the electromagnetic wave shielding members. Thereafter, while the joiner is being pressed against the shielding members by a heater, the joiner is solder-welded to both of the electromagnetic wave shielding members via the solder-plated layer.

    Abstract: An electrostriction motor provided with an oscillator having an electrostriction element bonded to an elastic solid, and a moving solid contacted with the phase boundary of the elastic solid of the oscillator. The electrostriction element is continuously polarized in the moving direction of said moving solid to include a directly-expanded and -contracted pole to which a cycle voltage is applied, and dependently-expanded and -contracted poles which are positioned on right and left sides of the directly-expanded and -contracted pole, and it is also polarized in such a way that the directly-expanded and -contracted pole and one of the dependently-expanded and -contracted poles have the same polarity, while the remaining dependently-expanded and -contracted pole has a polarity different from that of the directly-expanded and -contracted pole. Therefore, the electrostriction motor can be driven by a cycle voltage having a single phase, and its supply power circuit and wiring can be made simpler accordingly.
