  • Publication number: 20100321731
Abstract: According to one embodiment, an image processing apparatus includes a document table, a document feeder, an opening sensor, an image reading unit, an operation unit, a first memory, a second memory, and a control unit. An original is placed on the document table. The document feeder can open and close an upper part of the document table and conveys the original. The opening sensor detects whether the document feeder opens the document table. The operation unit receives the input of information indicating processing content for the image data. The first memory stores first configuration. The second memory stores second configuration corresponding to the information input to the operation unit. The control unit changes, if the opening sensor detects the opening of the document table, the second configuration stored in the second memory to the first configuration.

  • Publication number: 20090309291
Abstract: To provide an image forming apparatus that can highly accurately position and convey, even if an inter-sheet distance of sheets to be conveyed is reduced, the sheets from registration rollers to a transfer position when a toner image on an image bearing member moving at process speed is transferred onto the sheet in the transfer position. A sheet fed from a paper feeding cassette by a pulse-motor driven paper feeding roller is conveyed to pulse-motor driven registration rollers by pulse-motor driven conveying rollers. When the sheet is conveyed to the transfer position according to restart of the registration rollers, the sheet is conveyed by the registration rollers at sheet conveying speed different from the process speed before the leading end of the sheet reaches the transfer position and is conveyed at the process speed after that.

  • Publication number: 20090224458
Abstract: A technique in an image forming apparatus in which the front and back sides of a sheet are reversed by using a reversal conveyance path is provided for causing the sheet to wait such that the sheet is not damaged when a unit for conveying the sheet to the reversal conveyance path is pulled out for the purpose of clearing a jam or the like. A roller for conveying the sheet is controlled such that the sheet to be turned back and directed into the reversal conveyance path is caused to wait until the sheet can be conveyed into the reversal conveyance path. As a standby position of the sheet while the sheet is caused to wait, a position is set such that an upstream end portion in the second conveying direction of the sheet to be directed into the reversal conveyance path does not extend for a predetermined length or longer into another conveyance unit adjacent to the intermediate conveyance unit upstream from the intermediate conveyance unit in the second conveying direction.

  • Publication number: 20090226193
Abstract: To provide, in an image forming apparatus in which a part of a sheet conveying path for reversing a sheet is formed as a unit to be extractable to the outside of the apparatus, a technique for preventing damage to the sheet involved in extracting operation for the extractable unit. In an image forming apparatus that reverses a sheet conveyed in a first conveying direction for leading the sheet to a predetermined discharge tray side by switching back the sheet in a second conveying direction for leading the sheet into a reversing and conveying path, if a sheet is simultaneously detected by both a first sensor that detects a sheet present in an intermediate conveying unit and a second sensor that detects a sheet present in another sheet conveying unit adjacent to an upstream side in the second conveying direction of the intermediate conveying unit, it is determined that the sheet is present across a boundary between the intermediate conveying unit and the other sheet conveying unit.

  • Patent number: 7315705
Abstract: An image forming apparatus is provided that prevents paper from being scratched by a peeling claw and reducing the curl amount of the paper to be re-fed to a lower level. The rotational speed of a fixing and discharging roller is adequately kept higher than the rotational speed of a heating roller so as not to allow image stain to be produced in a paper due to scratching by a peeling claw in a fixing unit. Simultaneously, the rotational speed of reverse feeding rollers is set slightly higher than the rotational speed of the heating roller at the time when an automatic duplex unit performs paper re-feeding. As a result, “swelling” of the paper occurring in a reverse gate is eliminated by the reverse feeding roller which is rotated at a speed higher than the heating roller, thereby greatly reducing “curl amount” remaining in the paper due to the “swelling”.

  • Publication number: 20060214365
Abstract: The present invention has been made to provide an image forming apparatus and a sheet feeding method capable of feeding a sheet without any problem even in the case where the rear end of the sheet is held between separating rollers at the time when the sheet is fed for a transfer process after aligning control. An image forming apparatus comprises a drive controller 101 that controls the drive of feeding rollers disposed on the upstream side in the feeding direction relative to an intermediate feeding roller that feeds a sheet to a regist roller that performs skew correction for the sheet; and a timing determination section 102 that determines the timing at which the regist roller starts feeding the skew corrected sheet after the skew correction. When the timing determination section 102 determines that a predetermined timing for the regist roller to start feeding the skew corrected sheet has come, the drive controller 101 drives the feeding rollers by a predetermined time from the predetermined timing.
