Patent number: 6557388Abstract: A method of determining at least one dimension of an extrusion die includes determining a plurality of reference points on a contour of an opening of the extrusion die. Sizes of a plurality of figures with same shapes corresponding to the plurality of reference points are determined. Each of the plurality of figures is inscribed in the contour of the opening and has at least one axis of symmetry. Each of the plurality of figures contacts each of the plurality of reference points and at least one another point on the contour. The at least one dimension of the extrusion die is determined based on the sizes of the plurality of figures.Type: GrantFiled: March 28, 2000Date of Patent: May 6, 2003Assignee: The Furukawa Electric Co., Ltd.Inventors: Akira Mitsumaru, Kazumi Kato, Kazuhiro Itabashi, Toshiyuki Kakinoki

Patent number: 6213693Abstract: A high durability taper tap for pipe threads which can cut threads in a pipe made of hard materials having hardness of approximately 50 HRC. The sum &Sgr;&ggr; of the width angle of cutters is large, approximately 130°, thereby achieving high strength and rigidity are achieved. Since rake angle of the cutting edge &agr; is approximately −20°, cutter angle &bgr; defined by the rake face and the peripheral relief becomes more than 90° so that the strength and rigidity of a cutting edge are enhanced. In addition, since a taper of the bottom of flutes is in a ratio of 1/16, approximately equal to that of the thread portion, the rake angle &agr; of all of the cutting edges 6 is uniform so that all of the cutting edges can equally cut the threads. Further, the diameter Df of the bottom of the flutes of the top end portion is approximately 60% of the smaller end of the thread portion, which is larger than that of the common tapping tool.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 1999Date of Patent: April 10, 2001Assignee: OSG CorporationInventor: Kazumi Kato

Patent number: 5528487Abstract: A method and apparatus is provided for effecting semi-closed loop positioning of a work piece, such as corrugated-board, which corrects for inherent tolerance errors in the apparatus. A controller operates a processing device, for example a slotter, a positioning device and a position measuring device. The processing device and the work piece are positioned relative each other to align the processing device with a target position on the work piece defined by a target position value. The measuring device is then used to determine the initial actual position value of the processing device relative to the work piece. A processing size is determined and tested to find whether the size is within a given tolerance. If the size is outside the tolerance, fine adjustments are made to reposition the work piece. Once the position of the processing device is within tolerance, the measuring device measures the position of the processing device to determine a corrected actual position value.Type: GrantFiled: November 2, 1993Date of Patent: June 18, 1996Assignee: Kabushiki Kaisha IsowaInventors: Nokihisa Adachi, Kazumi Kato
