  • Patent number: 8994300
Abstract: A plate-shaped portion of each of separators has a cross-sectional shape bent in a concavo-convex shape in a vertical direction. The plate-shaped portion of each of the separators has a flat cross-sectional shape. The plurality of separators are arranged parallel to one another to alternately line up. One surface of each of the battery cells abuts on the plate-shaped portion of the separator, and the other surface abuts on the plate-shaped portion of the separator. Thus, a spacing between the battery cells, which are adjacent to each other with the separator sandwiched therebetween, becomes equal to the thickness of the plate-shaped portion, and a spacing between the battery cells, which are adjacent to each other with the separator sandwiched therebetween, becomes equal to the thickness of the plate-shaped portion.

  • Patent number: 8742619
Abstract: One state detector detects an abnormal state or a normal state relating to charge and discharge of a battery cell group in one battery module, and generates one detection signal representing the detected state. Another state detector detects an abnormal state or a normal state relating to charge and discharge of another battery cell group in another battery module, and generates another detection signal representing the detected state. One operation processing device sends the one detection signal generated by the one state detector to an external object. Another operation processing device sends the other detection signal generated by the other state detector to the external object. The one detection signal generated by the one state detector is transmitted to at least one of the other operation processing device and the other state detector via a signal line.

  • Publication number: 20130200700
Abstract: A battery module includes a battery block and a printed circuit board. The battery block includes a plurality of laminated battery cells. A detection circuit and an amplification circuit are mounted on the printed circuit board. In the battery block, a bus bar is attached to electrodes of the two battery cells in close proximity to each other so that the plurality of battery cells are connected in series. The bus bar attached to one of the electrodes of the battery cell at one end of the battery block is used as a shunt resistor for current detection. The detection circuit detects a voltage between both ends of the shunt resistor, which has been amplified by the amplification circuit.

  • Patent number: 8378688
Abstract: A capacity maintenance ratio determination device includes an impedance measurement unit and a capacity estimation unit. An alternating signal is applied from a signal generator to a battery. Frequency characteristics of AC impedance are calculated by the impedance measurement unit based on a response signal output from the battery in response to the alternating signal. A feature frequency is determined from the calculated frequency characteristics. The capacity estimation unit includes a memory and a determination unit. A correspondence relationship among a temperature of the battery, the feature frequency and a capacity maintenance ratio is stored in the memory. The determination unit determines the capacity maintenance ratio of the battery based on the temperature of the battery detected by a temperature detector, the determined feature frequency and the correspondence relationship stored in the memory.

  • Publication number: 20120298433
Abstract: A plurality of separators are arranged to line up in an X-direction on a cooling plate to respectively correspond to a plurality of battery cells. The separators corresponding to the odd-numbered battery cells and the separators corresponding to the even-numbered battery cells are arranged in opposite directions in the X-direction. On a bottom surface portion of each of the separators, the corresponding battery cell is arranged. In this case, one side surface or the other side surface of each of the battery cells contacts a side surface portion of the corresponding separator, and a bottom surface of each of the battery cells contacts the bottom surface portion of the corresponding separator.
