  • Publication number: 20130031516
Abstract: An image processing apparatus includes an operation panel as an example of a touch panel and a display device, as well as CPU as an example of a processing unit for performing processing based on a contact. CPU includes a first identifying unit for identifying a file to be processed, a second identifying unit for identifying an operation to be executed, a determination unit for determining whether or not the combination of the file and operation as identified is appropriate, and a display unit for displaying a determination result. In the case where one of the identifying units previously detects a corresponding gesture to identify the file or the operation, and when a gesture corresponding to the other identifying unit is detected next, then the determination result is displayed on the display device before identification of the file or the operation is completed by the gesture.

  • Publication number: 20120206388
Abstract: Continuously after two contacts are made on a touch panel, when a gesture of moving the two contacts in a direction that a spacing therebetween is decreased and then releasing the two contacts after being moved is detected, an image forming apparatus identifies a program presented by an icon displayed in an area defined by the two contacts at least either of before and after being moved, as a program subjected to the gesture, and stores information that identifies the program subjected to the gesture. The image forming apparatus reads the information that identifies the program subjected to the gesture in accordance with a command related to the program subjected to the gesture to execute an operation related to the program, and transmits information depending on the operation to another device indicated by the command.

  • Patent number: 8218182
Abstract: When a printing mode is designated by user operation, an MFP embeds information specifying a storage location in designated stored image data and prints the resultant image data. When a user adds information in handwriting or the like to the above-described printing material, and the printing material after the information is added is scanned, the MFP specifies the storage location from the image data, which is scanned data, and replaces the image data in the above-described storage location by the scanned image data and registers the resultant image data. At the time of the above-described printing, even if the printing condition is set for the image data, the designation of the above-described printing mode allows the printing condition suitable for scanning the printing material to be set.

  • Patent number: 7945588
Abstract: When a user logs in to an MFP and inserts a medium, a serial number of the medium is stored in a device information database in correspondence with user information of the user, and a descramble key, e.g., a hash code of the serial number is registered in the user information. When the medium is removed from the MFP which is still logged in, the registration is deleted. When the MFP into which the medium is still inserted is logged out, no registration is deleted. When the user logs in to the MFP into which the medium is already inserted, the MFP determines whether a descramble key is registered in user information of the user. When a second user logs in to an MFP from which a first user had logged out while forgetting to remove a medium, the MFP prohibits the second user from accessing the medium because no descramble key is registered in user information of the second user.
